Now im in no way bashing benefits. I am a mum to my wee boy and am currently on benefits and its bloody hard going but i manage as best i can.
But watching this programme im watching with shock, it really isnt nice viewing. There are people using food banks and their 6yr old got a petrol quad for his birthday Shock the impression that i got from this is that they seem to be proud of the life they have on benefits and seemed gloaty. Now i know i may get flamed for my views but people on benefits get a hard enough time without cases like this tarring us all with the same brush

I agree my council house is not filthy at all no mounds of rubbish and filthy nappies or fleas and none of my neighbours are either we dont sit outside on old couches swigging strong brew either most people have at least one person working too in the house hold!

Sadly it's not just her but millions doing the same re not working, having children and claiming as its seen as easier than working. For every person physically capable of working but claiming instead, the less money for those who can't work due to being disabled or having terminal illnesses etc.
Do try and get some facts and figures before distributing this complete nonsense across the internet. There really aren't millions of women having children and living a benefits lifestyle, and of those that are, they are not preventing my family from accessing benefits that are available. I'd much rather, as a benefits recipient, that you got really angry about the fact that my Carer's allowance counts as a taxable income and is removed from me TWICE. My dh claims ESA and Carer's allowance is taken off of the amount he receives. It's counted as income for Child tax credits too. Now that's disgusting. It's also disgusting that given the hours I have detailed above, the fact that I get NO respite (the cuts removed that), no holidays, no time off at all, I get 62 quid a week as Carer's allowance. Or I would, if it weren't removed. Now that's a fucking joke.
As for children escaping the benefits cycle, we have a bank manager, one at uni, despite severe disabilities and two going to uni next year, despite disabilities.

Amazonqueen, you are so right Grin

I saw that this programme was on, didn't watch it, and was shocked at the title frankly.

Why is it always the mothers who are shameless?

AllOfTheCoffee · 20/10/2015 14:12

Who ever said having kids is easier than getting a job clearly has neither kids nor a job Hmm

I always feel sorry for the people on these shows. No-one, no matter how shameless would agree to be vilified on national TV in this way unless they were a) desperate and being paid in cash or goods, b) mislead by the program makers or c) all of the above.

Many people who are terminally ill actually do work.
