AIBU not to give a flying fart? They are going to look fab, I'm going to be happy, because everyone is going to suit their shape, and all is going to be well!

We went to a wedding where the bridesmaids wore black. It made the brides dress really stand out in the photos and looked stunning . They had black dresses with a white sash and we're gorgeous.

LemonRedwood · 17/10/2015 20:11

My bridesmaid wore black. She looked fab and has a dress she can realistically wear again (and has many times!)

My mum was bit Hmm but agreed in the end that the colour scheme worked so I didn't end up having to tell her to do one

KaraokeQueenOfTheNorth · 17/10/2015 20:12

I've seen bridesmaids in black dresses with a pink ribbon round the middle, looked stunning and made the bride's dress really 'pop' in the photos.

AnemonesCloser · 17/10/2015 20:15

Bridesmaids in black is quite common these days. I've been one twice!

catl1tterinmybra · 17/10/2015 20:18

We had a fantastic day organising stuff today - I can't ask for more from my good friends :)

My bridesmaids and mothers of the bride/groom wore black. We married at 5pm and had a posh evening dinner at 8pm and everyone looked very glam. Was fab Grin

Wobblystraddle · 17/10/2015 21:12

I wore black. V stylish.

colleysmill · 17/10/2015 21:15

I had my bridesmaids try on a black version on their dresses - it looked absolutely stunning although we all agreed on the red in the end (but it was Christmas) - and yes I was that annoying person who got married at Christmas time!

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 17/10/2015 22:05

I was a bridesmaid in black last year, floor length, one-shoulder dresses - loved it! Felt so glam with sparkling shoes, jewellery and faux fur wraps... And no one noticed when I spilt red wine down myself as it didn't show up!! Blush

notquitehuman · 17/10/2015 22:08

I think it looks lovely. Black dresses suit most shapes and sizes, and now is a good time to buy them as every high street shop is full of party dresses.

CasperGutman · 17/10/2015 22:11

My wife's bridesmaids wore black. It looked really classy and elegant, and the bridesmaids ended up with dresses they had half a chance of wearing again.

KurriKurri · 17/10/2015 22:14

Bridesmaids were in black at my DS and DDIL's wedding last year, DDIL wore red - they all looked stunning.
Hope you have a lovely wedding day Smile

BrendaandEddie · 17/10/2015 22:15

how can this NOT be lighthearted

shit i hate lighthearted

StarkyTheDirewolf · 17/10/2015 22:32

I went to a wedding where the bridesmaids wore black, I didn't like them, but more because I didn't like the dress and I didn't think it suited any of them. But it wasn't my wedding so therefore none of my business! YANBU. If you're happy, enjoy it! Smile

ScarletRuby · 17/10/2015 22:46

My mum's bridesmaids wore black in 1971, it made the local news.

stopfaffing · 17/10/2015 23:01

Go for it, OP.

My DD was a bridesmaid three years ago. The Bride wore white with a black sash, the bridesmaids wore black with a white sash (sort of Grecian style). Looked gorgeous, the lot of them.

Better still, the dresses can be worn again easily as formal wear.

Tiggeryoubastard · 17/10/2015 23:05

Nothing wrong with black. Don't think you have to put a colour on them if you don't want to! It's just as valid a colour as any other. And if done right is very chic. Enjoy your wedding and marriage. Flowers

CalleighDoodle · 17/10/2015 23:05

Ive seen bms in black and all wearing different colour shoes to match the colour of converse the groomsmen they walked down the aisle with were wearing.

Tiggeryoubastard · 17/10/2015 23:06

I meant don't think you have to put an accent colour on them.

LadyB49 · 17/10/2015 23:12

Ten years ago my d dil had a bridesmaid/matron of honour in black, 8 months pregnant and she looked beautiful. As did the bride :)
