To find it childishly hilarious whenever someone says "broke wind" instead of Fart.

Call me juvenile and I know it's probably the correct terminology, but I find it hilarious whenever anyone says that they've broken wind instead of just fart.

Yesterday at work someone said just that and it took all of my strength not to burst out laughing. It's just so twee and toe curling. Why not just say that you've farted? And if that's too strong for you then there's always trump, but even that's a bit to twee for me as well.

OP posts:

I think it's far more "real" to accept that you have an arse IMO.

I'm in tears Grin

Love this thread. Farts at inappropriate times are one of the funniest things and have probably been so for thousands of years! Ever since the dawn of the human arse.

Salmotrutta · 17/10/2015 00:11

You don't know me Anemone ...

I'm most definitely not "on the cusp of anger" Confused

How bizarre that you would think that from my posts.

AnemonesCloser · 17/10/2015 00:14

Why bizarre? The vibe you're projecting is one that is stern to irritated.

twoboystwogirls · 17/10/2015 00:16

Pissed off? Not at all. I'm gazing at my four beautiful children as they sleep in our beautiful house, missing my wonderful husband while he works the night shift and thinking it is probably time to go to sleep.

I am not pissed off at all....sorry you think that!

Fairenuff · 17/10/2015 00:17

You don't seem so calm yourself Anemones Grin

Does it really matter who likes hearing farts and who likes the words used to describe farts? Some find it funny, some don't. Neither is right, neither is wrong. It's just opinion. Innit.

Salmotrutta · 17/10/2015 00:17

You do know that "stern to irritated" does not equate to anger don't you? Hmm

And actually my vibe is more that of acute ennui

HTH.

Thanks for that!

AnemonesCloser · 17/10/2015 00:21

Salmo I've got to say that those huffy faces aren't doing much to change my mind.

Some people like toilet humour, some don't. I hate Morecambe and Wise, others love them. It doesn't matter. But why get so riled over a fart thread?

Fairenuff · 17/10/2015 00:25

OP invited opinions. People do not have to agree with each other. I think we can all accept that can't we and we can all post that we love/hate/are indifferent to fart related jokes for the over 5s?

Salmotrutta · 17/10/2015 00:27

Umm.

I'm not riled Anemones.

Just puzzled as to why anyone over 5 would find toilet jokes in any way funny.

sugar21 · 17/10/2015 00:28

Now look we all know that it's not the actual fart that's the problem. Its the follow through, by God then you're in big trouble

AnemonesCloser · 17/10/2015 00:29

They don't have to agree but some people's reactions seems way out of kilter to the subject matter. Barking at people that they're 'idiots', they 'need to see their GP', they have 'sad miserable lives'.

Such an odd overreaction.

Brioche201 · 17/10/2015 00:31

I might have found farting funny when I was 4

Fairenuff · 17/10/2015 00:32

I think we're all sad to be still having this dull conversation tbh Grin

It's a slow night on mn if it's come to this.

AnemonesCloser · 17/10/2015 00:33

True.

Someone is putting a Santa hat on Terry Wogan on another thread so that's giving me the jollies.

Salmotrutta · 17/10/2015 00:34

I must have missed the posts on this thread where people were advised that they were "idiots" who "need to see their GPs because they have "sad miserable lives"... Confused

Fairenuff · 17/10/2015 00:34

It's not that picture of Terry is it?

AgentZigzag · 17/10/2015 00:35

'Barking at people that they're 'idiots', they 'need to see their GP', they have 'sad miserable lives'.'

And cringeworthy aggressive weirdos Anem.

It's definitely taken me down a peg or two.

AnemonesCloser · 17/10/2015 00:38

You must have Salmo.

'You nearly wet yourself at a non-funny joke? You need to see your GP.'

'so stop trying to seem all knowing and wise. You just come across as an idiot.'

'Glittery, you die inside if you don't find farting funny??

'You must have one sad, miserable life!!'

AnemonesCloser · 17/10/2015 00:39

It is indeed that picture Fairenuff. Tread carefully you never know will Terry will unveil himself........

He does look festive though.

HippyDippyRidingPretty · 17/10/2015 01:00

parp

That is all....

Salmotrutta · 17/10/2015 01:04

OK then Anemone - I concur that those words were posted.

But not by me so I don't see why I'm "on the cusp" of being riled/angry etc.

I just find toilet humour very juvenile.

And, as is the nature of juvenile humour, not very... humorous.

ChilledAndPleasant · 17/10/2015 01:19

salmo and twogirlstwoboys participation in this thread that is so beneath them and not annoying them at all is amusing me.

In particular twogirlstwoboys oddly smug post about her beautiful house and children and husband as proof she's not peeved/riled/angry/irritated amused me.

parp

ChilledAndPleasant · 17/10/2015 01:21

Oops, twoboystwogirls, not twogirlstwobiys _ sorry! Hope you are sleeping in your beautiful bed! Where's the duvet cover from?!

MissHooliesCardigan · 17/10/2015 09:28

Well I think that a well timed fart can have huge comedy value and I would definitely snigger if someone uttered the words 'broke wind'.
And I have 3 beautiful children, a wonderful DH and a very responsible job. However, my house is a bit of a shit-hole. Make of that what you will.
