To find it childishly hilarious whenever someone says "broke wind" instead of Fart.

Call me juvenile and I know it's probably the correct terminology, but I find it hilarious whenever anyone says that they've broken wind instead of just fart.

Yesterday at work someone said just that and it took all of my strength not to burst out laughing. It's just so twee and toe curling. Why not just say that you've farted? And if that's too strong for you then there's always trump, but even that's a bit to twee for me as well.

Clearly some people do, hence comedy sketches being quoted decades after they were first broadcast.

Lurkedforever1 · 16/10/2015 23:29

Yanbu. I find the word 'hump' massively amusing. Especially when people say it in a sentence such as 'I humped my case...'. 'uranus' is also good for a giggle.

VulcanWoman · 16/10/2015 23:30

Sounds like you've been badly traumatised by a lift fart.

AgentZigzag · 16/10/2015 23:32

Farting's always funny Faire, especially if it's a musical one.

twoboystwogirls · 16/10/2015 23:32

I think you should look up the meaning of 'irony'. You don't seem to get it. At all.

AnemonesCloser · 16/10/2015 23:33

Farting can be funny but it's all about context.

An unexpected fart in a budget meeting is definite snigger material. A 'pull my finger' gag is never funny.

Fairenuff · 16/10/2015 23:40

It's not always funny. It's definitely all about the timing. In church a woman behind me coughed and farted. That was funny because no-one could laugh and everyone had to pretend they didn't hear.

Some fat bloke sitting on the sofa, routinely farting every evening and saying something like that was a good one is not in the least funny imo.

As with all jokes, if you overdo it, it loses it's comedy value.

Salmotrutta · 16/10/2015 23:40

I must be really old fashioned.

I find any kind of toilet humour cringeworthy unless the perpetrator is under 5 years old.

Sorry if that makes me boring.

twoboystwogirls · 16/10/2015 23:46

Salmotritta, it makes you a lot more real than anyone else on this thread so far....

AnemonesCloser · 16/10/2015 23:47

Why does it make her 'more real'? Confused

corlette · 16/10/2015 23:49

Uranus....stop it...Grin

AnemonesCloser · 16/10/2015 23:49

Why are you so angry about this thread?

Salmotrutta · 16/10/2015 23:57

Who is angry then Anemone?

AnemonesCloser · 16/10/2015 23:58

twoboys certainly seems very peeved about something.

You're on the cusp I'd say.

GlitteryRollerGirl · 16/10/2015 23:59

I think it's far more "real" to accept that you have an arse IMO.

I'm going to ignore the naysayers and adopt 'did an angel speak?' To use with my boys Grin

I admit I am a child, I love fart jokes

I'm "on the cusp" Anemone?

The cusp of what? Anger?

Not me.

I just find toilet humour tedious in the over 5 age bracket.

Salmotrutta · 17/10/2015 00:08

Hmmm?

AgentZigzag · 17/10/2015 00:08

Yeah OP, y'wierdo Grin

AnemonesCloser · 17/10/2015 00:08

Yes. Definitely on the cusp of anger.

corlette · 17/10/2015 00:08

I'd say after last night's curry, my arse is more demons growling rather than angels speaking.

twoboystwogirls · 17/10/2015 00:09

Anemones, I am not peeved, so stop trying to seem all knowing and wise. You just come across as an idiot.

AnemonesCloser · 17/10/2015 00:09

Ha! Forget peeved, you are pissed off.
