Personally I couldn't be doing with it, practical jokes just annoy me. But presumably she knows what he's like, and what he does for a living/hobby, and she's chosen not only to stay with him but to have a child with him. I see his behaviour as wankerish, but not abusive.

I think that either she was 100% in on it, or that without knowing the details, the hammy acting and 'little Kane on the quad bike, go get the chequebook, honey' thing made her fairly certain a 'prank' was about to take place.
