AIBU to ask for a trial size foundation (for travelling) when I am buying the full size version

AIBU and grabby?

I have to do o/n a lot for work and hate taking loads of stuff - the freebie trial size makeup is perfect for a small makeup bag.

If it helps it is Clinique and I know they usually have some

Oh absolutely ask. YANBU.

TheSpottedZebra · 13/10/2015 11:28

There is nothing wrong with asking, but they really don't usually have samples, and those hat they do have might not be in all formulations and shades. And the salespeople might be trying to save them to help convince some to make a purchase, rather than reward someone who already had.

HellKitty · 13/10/2015 11:31

Definitely go for it! I have tiny perfume sprays, a diddy Chanel mascara and small Chanel primer. I LOVE getting the freebies!

I bought some new perfume last week and got handfuls of other perfume and aftershave samples.

ZacharyQuack · 13/10/2015 11:33

You could ask, but they might want to keep them for potential sales, rather than a sale they already have.

Contact lens cases are good for travel, put primer in one side, foundation in the other.

MaxPepsi · 13/10/2015 11:38

Nope

However, Debenhams have the clinque free gift at the moment.

I use Clinique and have always found the ladies on the counter more than accomodating.

Gruntfuttock · 13/10/2015 11:40

Definitely worth a try, but in case they don't have any, it's very easy to get empty pots and bottles for travel and you can decant from the large size. Boots have them, but so do many other places and Amazon of course.

Dogzeyes · 13/10/2015 11:41

Ok well it can't hurt to ask! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't being super rude or something!

That's a great idea Zach just been googling them. If they don't have any I'll get a contact lenses case! Perfect size for o/n!

Thank you everyone!

Not rude at all, and definitely worth a try. Good luck!

Just don't try the woman on the Molton Brown counter in Fenwwicks, she's awful!

Leelu6 · 13/10/2015 12:17

YANBU.

Clinique in Boots have also been happy to give me a week's worth of foundation.

One tip - ask them to put it in a tiny bottle if possible. The lid on the little jars break quite easily.

ajandjjmum · 13/10/2015 12:40

DD asked at Clinique in Boots and House of Fraser - she was buying a full size version, but travels for work. She was told they didn't have any, but the woman in Clinque gave her several pots, to decant some of the stuff into, which was kind.

Dogzeyes · 13/10/2015 16:51

They didn't have any, but I got a free eyeliner and eye cream.

I'm going to try the contact lens container!
