to take norethisterone

.....on hols in December and tend to have horrendous periods aibu to take norethisterone to delay it ?? Paranoid I will get breakthrough bleeding .....any one with any advice or help ?? Not on the pill or would have tried that xx

Be aware there are some serious side effects to the prog only pill.

It's not a sweetie to take just for your period on hols.

For example I got raging migraines and suicidal thoughts after a few days on it. my skin was lovely though And it took ages and ages to get back to normal.
If you're travelling long haul there are much greater blood clot risks.

I've used it and never had any problems with it. DD has also used it and she did find her next period was heavier and more painful than usual, although she felt it was worth it.

As you have plenty of time, I would probably delay the period before so you have one just before you go and then don't have to bother about remembering to take the tablets while away and, if you do have any side effects, you can deal with them at home.

I took it to delay my period back in August. I turned into a miserable bitch from hell. Couldn't tell you whether there was any spotting after sex because my sex drive disappeared completely. Ironically, the fact that I wanted lots of sex with DH on holiday was a major reason I took the damn stuff in the first place! I didn't want to even sit next to him, let alone sleep with him. It took just over a week to feel normal again after finishing the course. The two periods I've had since have been even more horrific than usual. Not sure if that's a side effect or not.

On the plus side, I didn't bleed at all on holiday.

I took tranexamic acid for honeymoon, no breakthrough bleeding or side effects....

I'm thinking that maybe I should take it to delay my period in November for a week or so then hopefully the one in Dec won't come when I'm on hols ?? What do you think ? What's a period like after ? It comes a few days after stopping ? And then a month later again ?? Thank you guys

I was suicidal when I took it. That's not something to take lightly, either on hols or not.

If you think about it you can delay the period before your holiday period so that you have a normal cycle while away. That would mean for me taking it until 7 or 8 days before holiday date. Stop taking it, 3 days later period, 4 day period then all clear for hols. No tablets to remember and no bloating.
