To expect top London companies to market appropriately?

Ok, maybe AIBU.

Just had a call from a bloody company asking me to invest in wine.
Fair enough if you have the money to invest between 5k and 20K, but we are a low income family on tc.

I couldn't get rid of him, so carried on with my ironing. I know I should have put the phone down but was mesmerised by his hard sell.
Far better return than ISA etc. etc.
I ironed 4 shirts whilst he rambled on.

WTF would I want to invest in sodding wine?

YANBU. I think top London companies probably do market appropriately, which suggests something about companies that don't.

Wine investments are a scam, almost without fail. Wine isn't a designated investment and so doesn't come under FCA selling rules unless it's marketed as a collective investment. Regulated financial investments are not allowed to be sold like this. This means that all the scum who used to sell 'investment land' without planning permission have moved into flogging wine.

They're selling a get rich quick scheme to the gullible.

He really went on about brokers, the chateau they use etc.
I'm glad it's a scam because poor man had a cold and I felt sorry for him.
They are following up with a call on Thursday, when surprisingly enough I won't pick up.
They had my address and phone number obviously, but I'm still wondering why the company thought we had that type of money.
Obviously they don't waste so much time on those who aren't interested or certainly those that don't have the money.
