to be fed up with men mumbling into their beard on the TV and in films.

Honestly, half the time I have to turn it up so loud that the sound effects are too loud or put subtitles on. I'm looking at you, Andrew Lincoln in Walking Dead.
Why do men in films and TV series seem to find it necessary to mumble in a gravely voice all the time? I've spoken to men, they don't talk like that, why do they do this? I'm not going to be fooled into thinking this is how men talk and I can't bloody hear anything they say.

Or am I just getting old?

Clearly it's just me then.

It is dreadful especially if there is background music as well. Then when the adverts come on the sound is deafening. I notice that some quiz shows have background music on as well. Why? I just want to hear the Q's and A's.
