Hello,

I've had this on and off for about 18months (see previous thread) but now I'm sick of it! 2 rounds of metronizale haven't worked. The Balance Activ pessaries work but then it comes back.

I did a douche last night of hydrogen peroxide and then inserted the following tablets: folic acid, vitamin c and acidophilus. I am also taking these orally.

My main question is whether it is right to try to kill the bad bacteria (with the hydrogen perioxide & acid) at the same time as trying to replenish the good (with acidophilus) or should I do acid for a week THEN acidophilus?

I am drinking apple cider vinegar and have cleaned my diet right up.

Any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance

FYI: I have been tested for STIs & thrush and am clear.

Thanks, Tatty. Yes, it was contact lens cleaner that I actually used! It bloody stung though!

It may do good or it may not, I'm sure you've researched it, but its not like you are putting a Castings Creme Gloss up there Grin

:-)

I was contemplating wire wool at one stage, or a pipe cleaner!

I had BV for ages, it took months for me to realise what it was as I just assumed I was sweaty or needed a bath/shower.

I got a course of the balance activ pessaries, which actually worked really well initially, but then it came back.

The only thing that has worked for me long term is stopping the use of soap and shower gel on my fanjo and just using water. I have been doing this for about 2 months now and so far so good!

I used to have this recurring and was recommended at the sti clinic :

Don't let any soap/shampoo/bubble bath etc get onto your foof (I use Simple soap, that's ok)

Rinse all knickers after washing in the machine to get rid of any remaining detergent etc (I take them in the shower with me)

No unprotected sex/semen inside you

It's worked really well for me, it's not reoccurred for ages

I think the recurring theme here is to keep any soaps, shampoos, bubble baths etc away from your underbeneaths Grin. If anyone buys me fancy shower gels, bath bombs etc they get donated away. I stick to Epsom salts and lavender oil.

I got really sad the other day seeing a lovely big bubble bath on TV and realising I could never have one, but it's just not worth it.

I have had BV - and i really think hydrogen peroxide is NOT going to help such delicate skin tissue, only irritate matters! . Keeping any hair there very short helps (shaving/waxing can irritate it/trigger it/set it off i found) and going knickerless when you can, cotton knickers otherwise. And not wearing pajama's or tights any more saw mine off with the aid of antibiotics - and its not been back. Oh and cup of apple cider vinegar in lukewarm bath was old wives tale that actually worked re the soreness.

Hello vajayjay victims!

Thing is I never clean near the inside of my foof with fancy gels etc. But even shampoo will run down there and get on the outside.

I'm still a bit sore/itchy from fanjo cocktail so I won't be doing that again.

I never bath (only shower) and I never wear tights.

Thanks for the tip re rinsing knickers. Perhaps it is indeed the bio washing powder causing the problem.

I have a theory that garlic, onions and spices make it worse too. All the things I love!

Yes, ditch the bio washing liquid. When I was at uni about 20 years ago I kept getting an attack of what felt like cystitis but without the burning. Switched to non-bio and have been fine every since. I never wash with anything other than soap either.

I may need to go extreme and wash my hair over the bath.
Then wash my smelly armpits at the sink.
Then when I shower, only use warm water.
Ill keep taking the folic acid, vitamin c and acidophilus and Apple cider vinegar and using the pessaries. I have a gp appt soon so will mention if no major improvement.
And also ditch the bio powder for my knickers!

Have you tried extra Virgin coconut oil yet? Seems to help with all my vajayjay related ills.

Just slather it on. It's anti microbial and anti fungal so covers all bases. And can't do any harm iyswim.

You could try taking an oral probiotic too. I would try having baths for a bit too, in plain water. Giving your bits a good soak works far better than just flanneling them in the shower. If you are flanneling, make sure you wash the flannel each time too.

Agree with coconut oil, I smother it all over and it definitely helps. I don't find washing powder makes a difference, but I do use very little washing powder and do an extra rinse cycle to get all the suds out. No fabric softener either.

I keep a cheap jug in each bathroom so that I can fill it with water and gently rinse off after a wee, as I find urine on the skin can irritate a bit (also feels much nicer to be properly clean). Then more coconut oil on.

Me again. Here's an update on my fanjo:

I'm on a v healthy diet, no fizzy drinks, no alcohol, no caffeine.
Washing cotton pants on high heat with non-bio detergent.
Letting foof breathe at night.
I'm trying a different thing - it's called Multi-Gyn Actigel from Boots. As well as killing the bad bacteria, it supports the good ones. Quite messy though.

Turns out i was doing the acidophilus wrong - you have to keep it in the fridge after it's opened!

So here's hoping a combination of all these things will get rid of the smell for good!

Canesten have a BV treatment I think - and a self-test (as often thrush/BV/trichomonas symptoms are confused). Worth a look in Boots?

Thanks Panda! I have practically the whole of the Boots fanjo care section in my cupboard but I must have missed that!
