To ask for an outside tap?

Dp and I have lived in rented house for 18 months and plan to stay for another couple of years. The back garden is just grass (the remainder of the land that the house is built on so incredibly weedy and uneven) and flower beds consisting of brambles. It is around 10m x 10m and we have now decided to 'do it up' and will be putting some proper beds in and a small patio (gravel). This has all been ok'd by the LL and she actually seems quite happy and excited.

However there is no outside tap which will make maintenance that bit harder, so,
AIBU to request an outside tap at her cost?
I'm not sure if it's the 'done' thing...

YANBU to request it, she might say yes because it sounds like you want to be there long term and are good tenants. On the other hand she might not be able to afford it or might just not want to go to the expense, but as long as you accept it graciously if the answer is no, then there's no harm in asking.

If you are planning on staying long term and you really want the outside tap, you could offer to contribute to it.

Sorry, missed the bit where you said you're only planning on staying another couple of years! I really need to start reading ops twice before I post!
