DH and DSis fallen out - I'm stuck in middle

Sis came to our house upset as she'd had a row with her line manager. I tried to comfort her while she was here and dh suggested to her that her dress had owls on and perhaps that contributed to the confrontation. Sister is now saying that dh is takin sides with her line manager and they I am taking sides with DH and therefore, nobody is supporting her. I feel stuck in the middle as dH did not mean to blame sis, but just pointed out factors that could have contributed to it all. But then again he could have been more tactful about it. On the other hand, sister is been unfair to me (I feel) as I was the first to support her when it first happened!!
AIBU to tell her I support her but also see where dh was coming from or would it be more reasonable to just tell her I want nothing more to do with it as I feel stuck in the middle and I feel that is unfair

Bluecheese22 · 06/10/2015 22:50

Eh??!!

OwlinaTree · 06/10/2015 22:52

Trying to work out where she works that owls on the dress cause a confrontation.

Mouse breeding centre? Gruffalo babysitting service?

passmethewineplease · 06/10/2015 22:53

A bit more info is required here OP...

OwlinaTree · 06/10/2015 22:53

Does the line manager have oclaphobia?

OwlinaTree · 06/10/2015 22:54

Perhaps she works in the oclaphobia support service?

DragonsCanHop · 06/10/2015 22:54

you see where Dhahran was coming from in regards to owls in her dress?

You may need to explain further.

pippistrelle · 06/10/2015 22:55

Clearly you have a vested interest, OwlinaTree.

Liomsa · 06/10/2015 22:55

Hang on, was the row with the line manager about what your sister was wearing? If not, what on earth did the owl dress have to do with anything?

anothernumberone · 06/10/2015 22:55

Yes that sounds right owlina all though with your insider owl knowledge it is not surprising the boss is a rodent and the Owls made her feel uncomfortable.

BYOSnowman · 06/10/2015 22:56

She wore a dress with owls on it to work? I'm totally gobsmacked! What was she thinking. At my workplace the security guards would have stopped me at the door and sent me home to get changed into more suitable attire. She's crazy

anothernumberone · 06/10/2015 22:56

X post pip

BrendaFlange · 06/10/2015 22:58

There is a dress code that forbids owls on dresses?
Does it apply to owls on ties?
Because if not it could be classed as discriminatory and she could talk to ACAS.

OwlinaTree · 06/10/2015 23:01

It's the second rule at our work place.
1/ no smoking.
2/ no owls.

There are many other rules, but these are the most important two.

pippistrelle · 06/10/2015 23:02

Maybe she works at Vogue: I bet Anna Wintour hates an owl motif and considers them so two years ago.

BYOSnowman · 06/10/2015 23:03

I know a guy who got sacked for wearing a tie with owls on it - got away with a warning the first time but second time he was out. Seemed a bit harsh as the guy who regularly snorts coke at his desk was only given a 'polite word'

WorzelsCornyBrows · 06/10/2015 23:06

It sounds like an argument toddlers would have Confused

jeavcike · 06/10/2015 23:08

Was this the dress? If so, it's a boy short and inappropriate for work Grin

Scarydinosaurs · 06/10/2015 23:09

Typo?? Owls on a dress...maybe she was late to meet a pussy cat in a boat. Not acceptable in the workplace.
