AIBU to think that as I don't own a cat I shouldn't have to clear up cat sh*t from my garden every other day??

I choose not to own a cat, and yet once again I find myself this morning in my front garden shovelling up big smelly piles of cat poo. If it was my own pet I wouldn't mind, but I'm really getting the hump with being up to my elbows in sh*t because someone else's pet thinks my garden is a toilet. I love animals -usually - but it's so gross, so stinky and really unhygenic. It was cat diarrhea on my rock plants at the weekend just as we were expecting visitors, just caught the little sod squatting on my plants despite me banging on the window in a rage. Does anybody have any suggestions of cat deterrants that actually work? We've tried all sorts but they just ignore it. We even had a deterrant containing lion scent called Silent Roar (!!!!) which is supposed to make them think a big hungry predator is nearby - they didn't give a toss. Ideas anybody...?

Hmm
Anastasie · 06/10/2015 16:40

What did you take your masters in LC?

kali110 · 06/10/2015 16:51

Think it's awful mn are ok with threads where posters are blatanly bragging about hurting animals-so long as it's cats!

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 06/10/2015 16:54

I'm a cat owner and my kitten only goes out under supervision, she hasn't be spayed yet and I don't want her getting pregnant.

My cat will not be a roam free cat.

Water wouldn't work on her any way as she jumps in the bath and also the paddling pool < strange cat>

SlightlyJadedJack · 06/10/2015 17:00

Just stunned that someone would actively seek to harm an animal and then brag about it. Fucking hell.

kali110 · 06/10/2015 17:05

Yes slightly i'm really horrifiedSad
We have strays as pets and have had them for years, but it's clear they haven't forgotten their abuse.
If they have an accident or get sick they cower and run away for hours even though we've never hurt them or told them off for it.
I'm even sympathetic to the op! We have a neighbours cat that visits and we find him asleep when we wake up and strays that fight and nick ours food but i'd never dream of hurting them!

AnyoneButAndre · 06/10/2015 17:14

Quite apart from being cruel it's a fucking stupid and pointless plan because chlorine bleach smells very similar to catnip - I know this from long experience of DCat molesting my damp swimming costume, and she is not alone in this.

LoveChickens · 06/10/2015 17:55

I may be your next door neighbour, who knows!

Nobody has changed my mind yet though, sorry.

Ana, I would usually divulge but I fear you would use it as ammunition (as you know you are) so I will pass on that one.

Anastasie · 06/10/2015 18:03

I don't see how I could use it as ammunition. I'm just bewildered that someone who variously struggles to create a logical sentence and displays a dearth of social awareness can have got so far in education. So I wanted to ask you about it to determine if you were telling the truth or not.

Feel free to keep us guessing though.

SuburbanRhonda · 06/10/2015 18:05

What did you take your masters in LC?

I'm guessing Ethics Grin

LoveChickens · 06/10/2015 18:06

Really not sure how you've managed to decide I can't create a logical sentence...

I won't keep you guessing, I'm not telling you - and i'm definitely don't need to prove my credentials to you. You can believe me or not, it makes no difference to me anyway!

Anyway, let's not derail the thread!

LoveChickens · 06/10/2015 18:06

No definitely not ethics!

LoveChickens · 06/10/2015 18:07

I'm was meant to be I, before you think I'm thick again Grin

KittensandKids · 06/10/2015 18:09
Biscuit
Anastasie · 06/10/2015 18:12

I've already pointed out your crappest sentence.

AnyoneButAndre · 06/10/2015 18:15

And we've already established that you want to repel cats with something than smells of catnip, so it's a bit too late to defend your intelligence.

LoveChickens · 06/10/2015 18:16

Sorry - I don't remember! I'm sure sometimes what you post isn't the best. I wouldn't judge your intelligence or education, though. When you think about it, that would be a silly thing to do. I'm still feeling shit and I'm still in bed so not concentrating too much on what I'm writing today.
I don't really want to get into a slanging match either with you, it's not really what I want to do on here.

My hatred is for cats, not people Cake

LoveChickens · 06/10/2015 18:17

Okay Anyone, I've no idea what catnip is though!

kali110 · 06/10/2015 18:41

No you're not my neighbour i know my neighbours.
I won't say what i was going to as i know it would be deleted.
suburban ethics! Good joke Grin

LoveChickens · 06/10/2015 18:50

I'm pretty sure I'm not your neighbour, it was a turn of phrase.

Yes I don't think you should, I've not resorted to personal attacks. Well, if you could the cats.

Haha yes I did chuckle, it wasn't though Grin

LoveChickens · 06/10/2015 18:50

Count even!

kali110 · 06/10/2015 18:54

No you just brag about animal abuse, makes you a much better person Hmm

BrandNewAndImproved · 06/10/2015 18:55

I don't like cats, luckily I don't have a garden for them to shit in.

I would defend my garden by anymeans necessary if there was cats shitting in it. But not bleach or wheelie bins Grin

LoveChickens · 06/10/2015 18:58

I know I'm an arsehole when it comes to cats using my garden. I'm not denying that. I was very forthright and honest about it I don't think people liked that (understandably) so resorted to name calling, questioning my intelligence, using a sarcastic and mocking tone. I've got a thick skin so it goes over my head but it doesn't make some of you come across that well either.

Anastasie · 06/10/2015 19:04

Look, it isn't about your being 'honest'. Saying you're an arsehole doesn't stop you being one or mitigate your behaviour or attitude.

People don't know how to respond because most of us have an instinct that tells us to fight or argue against what we perceive as wrong and bad.

Using bleach on animals as a deterrent is wrong and bad. Cats will groom their fur and ingest it which will make them vomit, make their throats and mouths really sore, they may need to be admitted for treatment.

It's a disgusting thing to do.

Your 'nice garden' is not that important that it's worth making an animal sick for.

The comments about your intelligence were incidental to the argument we descended into.

I thought about accepting your olive branch but I have no wish to be jovial or friendly with someone who doesn't give a fuck about making an animal sick on purpose. How would you feel about someone who did that to your dog? Well, that's how other people might well feel about you.

You're not a nice person.
