To be cross that my DVD player is stuck in the 70s?

I already owned a tv with built in DVD player which works fine. But I wanted to be able to watch Region 1 DVDs so I bought a multi region DVD player as well. It only shows black and white though. Regardless of what region DVD is actually in it, even the basic menu is in black and white.

The cable is three bits (red white and yellow) at the DVD player and a scart connection at the tv. I asked a guy in Euronics and he said this is quite an old fashioned connection and to check if the scart lead had all the prongs. I did and lots were missing so I have now bought a new cable with a complete scart thing and still no joy.

I only have one tv so I can't try the DVD player connected to another tv to try and see which part is at fault. I also have nothing else to connect by scart to the tv.

Help? Blush

I'm pretty impressed that it's stuck in the 70s.

I wish I'd had a DVD player in the 70s.

I bet you were the talk of your street in the 70s with your fancy DVD player.

Has it got all the missing episodes of Dad's Army, Steptoe, Doctor Who and Z-Cars?

Go in the DVD player settings and see if you can find an NTSC/PAL option. Change it to PAL. It sounds like it's on NTSC and your telly only does PAL.

Make a virtue out of monochrome explaining to visitors that it is actually part of your personal aesthetic.

Sell the world's first DVD player for a fortune and live off the money. Buy yourself a bluray player while you're at it.

Most single region DVD players have a hack to make it multiregion (just a case of pressing buttons in a particular order) Google it and see if that works

Thank you I solved the problem, not entirely sure how but i did

I would love if it came with all the missing Who episodes, sadly not
