I hate requests for cash and would buy something else just because.
Champagne fine. Better than fine.

Starkswillriseagain · 01/10/2015 18:51

You can get currency delivered by the post office, I think. What does your husband want to do? We tend to organise each others friends since we know them best.

PassiveAgressiveQueen · 01/10/2015 18:52

if you care that little don't go, don't buy a gift at all

Only1scoop · 01/10/2015 18:53

I loathe cash requests normally but for some reason the currency for honeymoon I'm fine with.

It's when they ask you to pay cash towards their holiday I cringe at

laffymeal · 01/10/2015 18:54

I hate champagne. I always end up regifting it. Why do people have such a downer on cash? Write a check for gods sake.

BrendaandEddie · 01/10/2015 18:54

LOL
i am working ALL DAY tomorrow. I am busy Saturday morning

DONT TELL ME TO GO TO A POST OFFICE PLEEEEEEEASE

I don't understand when people ask for a specific gift. It kind of ruins the whole spirit of giving. I know people don't want 5 toasters but can't they just accept the generosity of others without specify how said generosity should be satisfied? Or am I old fashioned? I wouldn't have dreamed of asking people for cash Shock

BrendaandEddie · 01/10/2015 18:55

its currency for honeymoon yes

Meant to sort it and totally forgot

Only1scoop · 01/10/2015 18:55

Get your oh to sort it if it's his friends. I wouldn't even get involved.

BrendaandEddie · 01/10/2015 18:57

i think when people are earnign a fair old wage at a certain age you feel odd giving them cash - like if you have the owner of the salon doing your hair..

ImperialBlether · 01/10/2015 18:59

Isn't there a Thomas Cook or a bank that sells currency near you? Otherwise I'd just give them sterling.

BrendaandEddie · 01/10/2015 19:01

I doubt they'll care if you give them anything. They're not going to be checking you off on a list.

ImperialBlether · 01/10/2015 19:05

Your banks are all in town?

Just give them cash, ffs. Sterling. They can change it at the airport.

Can you pop into town? Grin

I hate champagne. I have no advice.

stayathomegardener · 01/10/2015 19:11

Nice bottle of wine, £25/ £50 whatever cash from Waitrose cash point in card sorted.

BackforGood · 01/10/2015 19:13

Just give them a card

I don't like champagne.

XiCi · 01/10/2015 19:14

I don't understand why you would not just give them money. There are alot of people who just don't like champagne

CookieMonsterIsOnADiet · 01/10/2015 19:17

A bottle is fine, it's an evening only invite so I'd not expect to buy a gift.

Asking for money is grasping in every way.

spatchcock · 01/10/2015 19:20

Don't give them cash, you're not invited to the wedding itself so I think a bottle will be fine. If they don't drink it they can regift.

fredfredgeorgejnrsnr · 01/10/2015 19:24

Give nothing, or cash, do not give them a bottle, it's more insulting than giving nothing. You're saying "my thoughts are more important you"
