Wedding gift - they ask for currency, can i jsut give then a huge champage bottle?

I don't understand when people ask for a specific gift. It kind of ruins the whole spirit of giving. I know people don't want 5 toasters but can't they just accept the generosity of others without specify how said generosity should be satisfied? Or am I old fashioned? I wouldn't have dreamed of asking people for cash

i think when people are earnign a fair old wage at a certain age you feel odd giving them cash - like if you have the owner of the salon doing your hair..

Isn't there a Thomas Cook or a bank that sells currency near you? Otherwise I'd just give them sterling.

Don't give them cash, you're not invited to the wedding itself so I think a bottle will be fine. If they don't drink it they can regift.

Give nothing, or cash, do not give them a bottle, it's more insulting than giving nothing. You're saying "my thoughts are more important you"
