to think slacker Mondays are the answer

I've been experimenting with ways to get more done in the week. After some trial and error carefully controlled experiments, I've hit upon something revolutionary i think

ready for it....?

do as little as possible on monday. For years I've tried to get the week off to a good start by ploughing through my to do list as soon as alarm goes off at 6.30am Monday morning. Then I'm completely shattered by Tuesday and have totally lost interest. I suffer from a form of OCD/depression and Tuesdays were always my bleakest days for this reason. I was burnt out and then felt demoralised as I couldn't keep up the manic pace i'd set.

so i put 2 things on my to do list aside from work (today: take dd to ballet, email a friend) get them done. Get up as late as possible, 7.45am. Work at a moderate pace. Have a takeaway/ready meal instead of cooking. Drive my daughter to school and back (instead of walking the 50min round trip twice day like i do the other days). Don't set any goals. Never do housework on a Monday. And don't feel guilty, as it's tactical Grin . Swear to God, it is a LIFE CHANGER. I get so much more done in the long term and my energy levels stay far more constant all week long.

Appreciate I may be stating the obvious here but i thought i would share.

I work part time and I don't work a Monday. And I never get the Sunday night feeling on a Monday night instead. Psychologically it's brilliant! I'll never work a Monday again if I can help it. People piss about at work on a Monday failing to prioritise their to do list. Tuesdays are so much more productive. YADNBU.

My rule - not that I always stick by it - for the day and for the week is WORST FIRST. Do the job you're dreading, it's never as bad as you feared once you bloody well get down to it, and the day or the week get better.

I am going for a Take it Easy Tuesday...
Potentially followed by Wing it Wednesday.

Fuck Work It's Friday?

Greengardenpixie · 28/09/2015 19:59

I used to work part time and had a Monday, Tuesday off. I now work Monday Tuesday Wednesday and much prefer it. I never could relax knowing i had my work still to do. This way, i work first and then relax Thursday, Friday.

Today was a holiday here so everyone was off but i am definetly going to try this idea! Thanks :)

Exactly...With Think of the Weekend Thursday sandwiched inbetween.

Hmm - you might be on to something. I am always looking for ways to increase productivity.

I have slacker Tuesday and slacker Thursday every week, as well as the weekends. That's mainly because I work on Mon, Wed and Fri. Grin

Mondays my day for thinking about gardening. I usually finish that by lunch, after lunch at 3ish I think about housework until 4 then watch quiz shows until dinner and wine.

(It's Foot-Up Friday. This is an official term.). I find Thursdays or Fridays are the worst days apart from Mondays because everyone is trying to get stuff off their desk. Tuesdays I spend getting upset after being shoyted at in team meeting. Mondays I spend dreading Tuesday. Sunday night I can't sleep worrying about the week ahead. Wednesday is the only reasonable day unless there's travel involved.
