Neighbours have a gardener over doing some work at the moment. DP is out doing the food shop and due back any moment so no car on the drive. Despite neighbours having a drive and there being another two he could park on, gardener has parked right in the middle of my drive and is sitting outside neighbours house shouting and swearing loudly down the phone.
Aibu to phone DP up and tell him to park behind this guy (just about enough room) and block him in? DP will be dropping me off to work in an hour and I don't want to risk switching places with the car and then being blocked in (as has happened before)
Kind of lighthearted. Kind of not.

I really want to know what your drive looks like for so many people to think they can park on it! Is it a new build estate?

I do agree the OP needs to ask their neighbour if they've been telling people to park on the OP's drive.

And then OP maybe needs to get some penguin bollards.....

Hello, back from work now (sorry to leave you all hanging) and I'm afraid it was all very anti-climactic.

DP parked behind but was very reasonable about it and left him room to get out, which he did very easily so no showdown or apology.

No idea why he decided to park on our driveway. Definitely knew it was ours and neighbour actually came out after my last post to check all was ok so would have seen where parked. He definitely didn't say anything. Annoying but I think IWBVU and grumpy so just going to pick my battles as otherwise neighbours are very lovely and we get on well.
I also have a feeling they put up with us annoying them anyway

To the posters flaming - please flame away! Can I request a biscuit too please? Haven't had one of those yet in all the years I've been here. Sad

Junosmum - yes! A new build so ridiculous layout involved of course but still definitely obvious it is our drive.

To the pp who said he may have been having a bad day, very sweet of you to defend him but sadly he is just a twat. He was swearing at his wife/partner about not having his toast ready before he left and was then swearing about not wanting to into town whereas partner did. Very unpleasant and didn't really want to stick around when he was quite happy to speak to women in such a way.

Anyway, all is well as ends well - he wasn't really blocked in and I got my first flaming! Huzzah!
