Is this inappropriate for a teacher?

Sorry for two posts in one day especially as my first day posting but just a quickie
My friend is a teacher and has just started in a school. She has posted a picture of some lines set as a punishment for one her pupils (no name just the lines) which say
"I won't talk when dollymixtureyumyums friend is talking" over 100 times with the status update above it saying "no she won't ha ha
Would I be right in telling said friend to tread carefully

OP posts:
Noodledoodledoo · 25/09/2015 22:32

I would give her a gentle warning - I know colleagues who have been pulled in and given a warning for less on social media. Vague is her new friend.

UterusUterusGhali · 25/09/2015 22:33

It's pretty crass.

SquareStarfish · 25/09/2015 22:34

She's an idiot.

Dollymixtureyumyum · 25/09/2015 22:37

To tell you the truth I am shocked out of all my friends and me included she is the sensible one.
I also can't believe over 50 people have liked it!!!
I have sent her a message telling her that as a friend I am saying be careful. Will see how she takes it

OP posts:
Clobbered · 25/09/2015 22:39

Yes, inappropriate and could get her in serious bother if seen by her boss.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 25/09/2015 22:39

Yep I really wouldn't be happy if I was the child's parent and I can't see the HT being delighted!
Even without the names it's pretty humiliating!

Maybe a polite I think prehaps you should be more careful from. Friend would make her think in future!

YouTheCat · 25/09/2015 22:40

If school gets wind of that, she may well be sacked.

It's just not worth it.

TwllBach · 25/09/2015 22:41

Not worth it at all! Posting anything about school is just a no no to me.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 25/09/2015 22:43

Yes it is inappropriate, putting her punishment of children on face book. . Can't believe you have to ask.

nocakes · 25/09/2015 22:43

Not to mention lines being a stupid pointless punishment

WorraLiberty · 25/09/2015 22:45

What, is she on some sort of power trip or something?

"Look at me. I now have the power to do this to children"

She's either quite weird or quite nasty.

I'm not sure which, but I'm glad she doesn't teach my kids.

Junosmum · 25/09/2015 22:46

Meh. OH is a good teacher, loads of teacher friends. They all do this, post pics of funny things kids have wriiten, pictures they've drawn, one picture of an octupus with 8 testicles (yup) an anonymous notes about how horrible the teacher is, the first sentence written by an autistic kid, funny things a kid has said or done. As long as the name isn't on it and they don't have the name of the school listed on their facebook I don't see the issue. None of them have ever been told off for it.

WorraLiberty · 25/09/2015 22:46

I have sent her a message telling her that as a friend I am saying be careful

See as a friend, I would have told her to stop being a wanker.

YouTheCat · 25/09/2015 22:52

I wouldn't have told her anything. None of my friends are that clueless.

LyndaNotLinda · 25/09/2015 23:00

Of all the things you wrote in your list Junosmum, this: the first sentence written by an autistic kid is particularly repellent.

Your OH and his friends are idiots. I would be appalled if I found that any teachers at DS's school did this.

hollieberrie · 25/09/2015 23:03

I'm a teacher and this is seriously not allowed! In my school you'd be hauled up for a disciplinary at the very least. Quite possibly sacked.

Noodledoodledoo · 25/09/2015 23:05

Junosmum I have a lot of teachers as friends on my facebook and none of them add things like your OH and friends do. I do know members of staff who have been hauled over the coals about comments made, not about students either.

WorraLiberty · 25/09/2015 23:10

Same here hollieberrie. I'm chair of governors at my local primary and the shit would definitely hit the fan if a teacher was found to be doing this, or anything on Juno's list.

sproketmx · 25/09/2015 23:10

I don't think it inappropriate either. If any of my kids teachers did it I would be thinking the same as her... oh no they won't Grin

YouTheCat · 25/09/2015 23:10

I wouldn't even mention my work in a status on facebook. I don't have many colleagues on there anyway, but it's just not worth the fallout.

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 25/09/2015 23:12

Same here - loads of teacher friends and none of them have ever posted the kind of things you mention Junosmum

Lots of schools have a social media policy now OP - perhaps your friend ought to read theirs?

Also - lines? Do lines even exist now?!

Shockers · 25/09/2015 23:15

Was it actually a photo she'd taken, or did she share something that was doing the rounds?

ChilliAndMint · 25/09/2015 23:16

I know lots of teachers and I know for a fact that the dangers of social media are constantly drummed into them.

She has crossed the line big time and I guess her career will be very short lived if head/trustees/ PTA get wind of her shenanigans.

featherandblack · 25/09/2015 23:17

Yes, I think it's inappropriate and not very nice. But not very serious, except for her if she's transgressing the school's policy on social media which she almost certainly is

MidniteScribbler · 25/09/2015 23:17

She'll end up unemployed. Best thing for teachers is to not discuss work on social media.
