AIBU to not be bothered about morning showers? (Light hearted!)

rainpouringrainbows · 25/09/2015 14:40

Apparently, (light hearted banter with friends) it is weird that I don't shower every morning. I am not that bothered, and I don't have time.

HOWEVER, I do shower every night, and every time I exercise and when I feel I need it. I also change my bedding every week, and my clothes every day (at least).

I can't stand the idea of being dirty in my clean bed, even worst after commuting or being outside. No, I really don't think I smell!

Am I being THAT gross?

You sweat about a pint at night though, yuck, don't you want that washed off before you get dressed and start your day?

BolshierAryaStark · 25/09/2015 17:50

I'm the same as you OP, I only shower again in the morning if I've either been for a run or had sex.

ClashCityRocker · 25/09/2015 18:32

I thought the pint of sweat thing was made up by mattress salesmen?

According to what I've read, the average moisture a body will lose during an eight hour sleep is 200 ml and most of that will be through exhalation rather than sweat. Don't know how accurate that is though.

Tfoot75 · 25/09/2015 18:56

I don't often sweat during the night and I certainly don't wake up smelly. Like many others I shower or bath before bed, don't even change my bedding that often because I'm only in it clean. I enjoy being clean when I get into bed, so have my showers then. Don't have time or inclinationto dry hair in the morning, and my hair needs washing every day.

TimeToMuskUp · 25/09/2015 19:09

I shower every morning simply because I sweat lots and wake up every morning with hair like greasy Robin Gibb. It's not BU to shower in the evening instead though. I'm just jealous that anyone can sleep on their hair and leave the house without large be-winged animals attempting to build nests in it like I get.

Fluffyears · 25/09/2015 19:18

Cannot comprehend not showering in the morning. You might not think you smell but an unwashed body does.

velourvoyageur · 25/09/2015 19:19

I only shower twice a day because I love hot showers. And touch my hair too much so it would look shit on the 2nd day.

Don't care how often other people wash if they smell ok. I'm sure that my skin would look better if I washed less often.
But morning breath in the tube etc somehow sometimes manages to give me the Rage. Brush your teeth - or don't breath on me!

Orangeisthenewbanana · 25/09/2015 19:22

If I'm at work, I shower the night before to save time. On my days off or Saturday I shower in the morning. Only exception is if we dtd the night before, then I will shower quickly the next morning regardless.

Mintyy · 25/09/2015 19:26

I think showering or bathing once every 24 hours is just fine.

I would like to get into the habit of having an evening bath instead of my morning shower. Just can't seem to make it happen though.

Olddear · 25/09/2015 19:36

Shower in the morning, bath in the evening.

PunkrockerGirl · 25/09/2015 19:36

I have an evening bath or shower. Me and ds's 1&2 all have to be out of the house by 6.45 for work. Only one bathroom so I dread to think what time I'd have to get up if I wanted a bath or shower too! Fortunately dh doesn't start work till much later, so he can have a leisurely shower when we've all left Envy

redredblue · 25/09/2015 19:39

YANBU
I prefer to shower at night because I like being clean when i get into bed.
Also I like to leave my hair to air dry because the hair dryer damages it.
And I want to keep the time getting ready in the morning as short and possible.
But at the weekend I'll have a shower in the morning.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 25/09/2015 19:53

Only shower after sex the next morning, not immediately!

Love those who come on to these threads and say 'you don't realise you smell but you do' as if they can actually tell who has showered and who hasn't
Don't you realise you won't smell the ones who don't smell because, duh they don't smell...
Sure there are smelly people, even people who shower every morning and still smell. If I was one I'd know (I can smell perfectly well and a sniff of my pits or down my top after a hot or sweaty night tells me if I smell) and you would have no idea if I showered that morning or had a bath the night before.

And a pint of sweat a night? Have a word with yourself, how could that be true?

Tfoot75 · 25/09/2015 21:13

Don't get the judginess - fair enough if you smell without showering each morning, it doesn't mean everyone else would! My DH wakes up every morning with greasy hair regardless of whether he's showered or not, whereas mine is still freshly washed (despite being a birds nest) he's obviously just oilier than me - same for the people here who think it's disgusting not to shower first thing?

BlueBlueSea · 25/09/2015 21:34

I hate baths, only have one about twice a year, and then want to get out after about 3 mins.

I do love a hot shower though. I have to shower when I get up, even if I am going straight to the gym, then shower again when I get home. If it is summer and hot, I also have a shower before I go to bed. So most weekends in the summer I will have 3 showers a day, week days 2. Only wash my hair every third day, dry shampoo is great.

goldopals · 25/09/2015 22:44

I shower at night time only. I shower after I exercise which is night time.

Archer26 · 25/09/2015 23:03

Have to shower in the morning. I feel grubby all day otherwise. From the age of 15 I washed my hair every morning until 2 years ago. I still have to shower every morning but I wear a shower cap every other day and dry shampoo has become my saviour. My hair is so much better too!

Hate baths. Take too long to do and then I want to get out in 5 minutes.

MrsTedCrilly · 25/09/2015 23:09

Another night showerer here! I love getting into bed all clean with my hair wet and waking up with hair dry and ready for the day.. I don't sweat in the night though which probably makes a big difference.

The bed stays cleaner longer too!

carbolicsoaprocked · 25/09/2015 23:12

No need for a morning shower if you've had an evening shower! Apparently daily showering is bad for our skin/hair anyway! I'd never get away with less though as I have greasy hair. I much prefer an evening shower, it's lovely to wind down, not be rushed in the shower and have that extra time in bed at night.

OfficeGirl1969 · 25/09/2015 23:36

Wouldn't judge anyone in this, but personally I struggle to feel properly awake if I don't shower first thing. I just feel a bit groggy and rubbish without a good blast under the shower before I get up

I'm not sweaty, the bedding and my jammies are clean when I go to bed, but I just feel properly awake when I've showered, and ready to face the day Smile

WhoAteMyToast · 25/09/2015 23:45

Ledkr 'Why do you shower before the gym?' - you obviously don't go to the gym I go to - there are a (thankfully) very few people there who clearly miss a shower or two before the gym, and it is revolting. If you had showered one morning, then went to the gym the following one, wouldn't you shower before you went?

shadowfax07 · 25/09/2015 23:47

I am not a morning person, so I prefer to shower in the evenings, and get into bed clean.

Officegirl doesn't your bed get a bit wet? Grin

iPaid · 25/09/2015 23:58

Mumsnetters love to overshare ..

SoleBizzzz · 26/09/2015 03:02

I have a shower everyday. I bathe and shower to give my fanny a soak.

KoalaDownUnder · 26/09/2015 03:27

Sole, what on earth is happening to your fanny that it needs a soak?!

(Envisages some kind of dried-on dirt Shock)
