I'm not convinced about dinosaurs

Recently I've been reading some websites about how the whole dinosaur industry is an elaborate scam. I'm almost believing that dinosaurs are just conjecture and fakery and that the whole thing is a huge money making exercise.

I'm not sure what to think because it sounds a bit bonkers to say you don't believe in dinosaurs, but actually when you read up on it it seems very likely it's true and they never existed.

AIBU? And if so could you convince me they are real?

I need to see the website that convinced you please.

fastdaytears · 20/09/2015 14:47

You can't beat the original thread on this, sorry.

PHANTOMnamechanger · 20/09/2015 14:49

You're right of course OP.

It's all a conspiracy.

The Romans and Vikings were never here either.

All that carbon dated evidence is all a fake.

Or maybe not.................Hmm

MakStout · 20/09/2015 14:50

OxfordCommoner you say you are mentally not very well at the minute, i think perhaps you should have a chat with your GP or mental health team, if you have one. If this is a new feeling of disbelief then its possible you could be becoming quite poorly.

PHANTOMnamechanger · 20/09/2015 14:50

where is the original thread, I could do with a laugh

PermetsTu · 20/09/2015 14:51

My Dad has bipolar disorder. When his medication isn't quite doing the job, he often starts reading about conspiracy theories and will become quite convinced by them. Never in a particularly worrying way, it seems quite a mild questioning of what looks like convincing evidence. It is always a very good indication that he needs either an adjustment to his meds or a meeting with his CPN at least.

I can't bring myself to join in with the good natured ribbing tbh.

How are you feeling? You say you're not feeling well, is this something you are receiving help with?

TamaraLamara · 20/09/2015 14:52

I need to see the website that convinced you please

I'd be surprised if there is one Wink

PermetsTu · 20/09/2015 14:52

X-posts with Mak.

I'm glad I'm not the only one reading this slightly differently.

PHANTOMnamechanger · 20/09/2015 14:53

Ok, please forgive my flippancy, I did not see your update - if you are genuinely mentally unwell, please please see someone. The human mind is a wierd and wonderful thing.

TenForward82 · 20/09/2015 14:53

I agree, permets, this is actually worrying.

But also hilarious.

PacificDogwod · 20/09/2015 14:54

Ah crap, the OP is not well? Sorry to have taken the piss then.
MakStout, how do you know?

loveforlife.com.au/content/10/09/14/dinosaur-deception-dinosaurs-never-existed-dinosaur-fossils-are-hoax-dinosaurs-scie

That's one of the websites.

I think I'll mention this to my cpn.

Oh, Oxford, I missed your update, truly, I am so sorry!

Just echoing those who are saying seek some RL help Thanks

MTPurse · 20/09/2015 14:55

I love the Christians against Dino FB group, it brings so much laughter and Joy to my life Wink

OxfordCommoner · 20/09/2015 14:57

It's fine, honestly. I posted because I wasn't sure how sane it is to think like this, I thought lots of people might agree with me and then I'd feel better about it.

PLEASE could everyone stop dis-ing the Creationist websites. I absolutely love them all. I want to go to the Creationist theme park in Kentucky, and if I had lots of money would hire a coach to take all my friends and family with me.

rationalwiki.org/wiki/Creation_Museum

There used to be this incredible review of it which I would go and read when I was bored at work, all about how you enter by walking between Jesus's legs, and anamatronic Adam and Eve (naked, but with the sinful naughty bits covered up) frolicked with dinosaurs, etc, etc. I reeeeeealy want to go.

Dawndonnaagain · 20/09/2015 14:58

Oxford I'm sorry you're not well at the moment. When people aren't feeling quite up to scratch, it's very easy to believe stuff that seems plausible. Dinosaurs are real and there really is a great deal of evidence out there. Perhaps start reading some stuff from the Natural History Museum and go from there.
In the meantime, you really need to have a chat with your doctor or a CPN if you have one. Having said that, there are lots of people here, particularly on the Mental Health threads who are very knowledgeable.
Hope you feel better soon.

OP this debate is sooo old you're in danger of sound like a....well....dinosaur.

SirVixofVixHall · 20/09/2015 15:02

Well DH found a large spike from a dinosaur, I have it here. it is defintely not a fake, and it is fairly clear what it is, and that it isn't from any current animal...does that help?

PacificDogwod · 20/09/2015 15:02

Oxford, it just had a look at that website - it is full of utter tosh. Please just close it and don't go on it again.
It is a creationist site, full of homophobic and other paranoid shit.

I'm glad you have a CPN - yes, mention it to her.

TenForward82 · 20/09/2015 15:02

Hell of a dripfeed, OP. Yes, go see your doctor.

shutupanddance · 20/09/2015 15:04

Sorry your feeling unwell op.Flowers when I'm mentally not right, I think about all sorts.

Witchend · 20/09/2015 15:04

The last Christian creationist I talked to believed totally in dinosaurs. They believed they had still existed until fairly recently, I think 17th century. They had pictures /carvings that showed dinosaurs from 15th/16th century.
