So my local supermarket has got a load of toys on offer, that they have plonked right by the entrance, so I can't avoid them. Cue three year old crying as I say he's not allowed any, and 15 minutes of pleading interspersed with wails of "But I want to see the tttttttoooooooooyyyyyyyyyyysssssssss"

So of course I'm being unreasonable. I should be able to control my own child and it's a good lesson that they can't have everything etc etc. But can I not be a little bit pissed off? (I did give feedback to the store to advise them that it made my shopping experience worse and unfortunately also subjected other shoppers to the wails of my 3 year old. Their response: "Oh, sorry to hear that, but they sell well in that location". No shit sherlock.)

He just wants to see them? Why not let him have a look, I can remember a trip round the toy department being the highlight of any shipping trip when I was a nipper.
Supermarkets are going to do what it takes to sell stuff.

I did let him look at them. For about 5 minutes. I was only popping in for a couple of things!

it's something as a parent you have to get used too

same as sweets at till etc etc

there is no way to avoid and you really need to get used to it and your dc to

there is no harm in having a quick look to quell her curiosity but you really need to make them see that it dosent mean your going to buy it,you may have a few tantrums to start but if your firm it will get better

i used to take my lot to Toys r us but they knew that i wasnt buying just getting ideas for Cristmas, birthdays, once they understood they were fine but im not one for constantly giving into them so it wasnt so bad

though one friend said i was cruel to take them there and not buy anything

i detest pester power

let them see, touch but make it clear that you are not buying it

good luck
