I should cancel?

The wonderful hospital have sent yet another letter saying they have cancelled dd's appt. and here is another one for a couple of months time...

On the same day as our family dentist check ups.

Totally opposite directions. Both involve at least an hour driving each way. No way to do them both on the same day.

The dentist was booked first, and he makes an extra effort to fit us all in together as we travel. We used to live near him, but moved away over the years. He's a great dentist and we don't need much extra treatment, so travelling an hour twice a year is fine.

The hospital seem to be writing to me at least once a week, saying dd's appt has been cancelled. And re-arranged.

Getting her tongue fixed is a higher priority than a routine check up.
But I have a feeling that if I change the dentist, the hospital will re-arrange anyway!

Phone the hospital tomorrow, and explain. If they are rearranging for around the date they gave you, that is where the free appointments start from so they should be able to rebook you for the week after IYSWIM.

I will phone them, but when I phoned earlier this week, the first appt they had was 5th jan next year...

Also off to google the 18 weeks thing they enclosed with the latest letter.

My sympathy OP. This really pisses me off. DD had had her hospital appointment changed four times now. Each time I have had to OK leave with two line managers before entering on my employers Annual leave database to have it authorised then delete it ,have deletion authorised before re-applying etc...It's a complete PITA.
In answer to your question though I would re-schedule the dentist. The hospital really does have you over a barrell on this one.

I would reschedule the dentist.

Phone the hospital to ask if you can rearrange. Depending on their answer you know what to do.

Hospital cancelled my MRI appointment 3 times and kept rearranging it. Each time I had to sort out childcare which messed me and my mum around.
Just this week when the 3rd Letter came through with a new date that we simply could not manage and I called to rearrange I was told that it had already been rearranged several times and how if I insisted on rearranging again they would cancel it as the NHS isn't there to be messed around like this...

I listened and pointed out that they were the ones messing me around but the woman still had to go off in a massive strop and seek 'authorisation' from her manager.

So personally I would rearrange the hospital appt. but I would also wait until a couple of days before hand as you don't want to cancel the dentist if the hospital are going to cancel. So play it by ear until much closer

Well, before I could even decide which to change, the decision has been made for me.

Another letter came today, saying the latest one had been cancelled. Now rearranged for December...

Glad I didn't get my dentist to try and squeeze us into another day!
