In saying that my house is not a public loo for people on the local Jumble Trail

Sold a few things outside for a local Jumble Trail which was a lot of fun and I made a bit of money too. What I didn't like was being asked by a few people if they or their child could use my loo. My reply was that my home is not a public convenience! Well perhaps I was a bit more polite than that in making my point, but I will not allow anyone I don't know in my house.

Was it unreasonable to direct them to a nearby cafe?

OP, how many people exactly asked to defile use your loo? 3?, 10?, 30? Although if the loo was upstairs and I didn't know them I would 'show them the way' and hover, no way would I refuse at an event like this. Have you truly never been desperate for a pee? Nobody would ask unless they were pretty desperate.

I suppose YANBU but you are quite mean in my book.

Lol op is mean for not letting strangers In her house now?Grin
Only the other year a lot of oaps were robbed using this and the water trick!
I wouldn't let anyone i didn't know in my house!
I even have ibs and bladder problems! I wouldn't call someone nasty names because they wouldn't let me into Their house!
I wouldn't even ask.
I don't think op is mean or uptight.
I think she's cautious.

Kali - I have never heard of it before (must live a sheltered life). Confused

MercedesDR · 19/09/2015 21:09

The cafe was around five minutes walk away, and they won't open the door to the loo unless customers buy something.

I was talking to a friend who lives in Spain about this today as it happens, and she told me that its illegal for cafes, bars and restaurants to refuse to let a walk in use the toilet. Can anyone verify this is true because it's a great idea.

Other than that we will all have to agree to differ. I mean some mums don't even clean up after their kids in a public loo - I've seen that loads of times. They don't wipe the seat or flush after their kids, and even drop nappies and dirty toilet paper. The dirty bitches expect me to let 'em in to use my loo? No chance.

OMG Mercedes, we obviously use the same public convniences! Recently saw a 'Mum' with DC in one. Child had finished and was waiting for mummy, in meantime was painting the walls with shit. (Don't where from) Mum comes out, looks and laughs. Says will give the cleaner something to do. Deaprt with slightly soiled offspring.

miaowroar. Yes they get a child, teenager or another adult to ask to use the loo or for a glass of water.
Once inside they rob what they can.
When it's two adults
One distracts the victim whilst the other loots the place.
It's not uncommon for them to use kids though, as people usually take pity on children.
It's a disgusting trick.

I don't know how half you lot ever step outside your own front doors. Honestly, yes there are thieving arseholes in the world, but it's a miserable existence if you arrange your social interactions assuming the worst of everyone. I mean, it's your choice, sure, but I wouldn't want to walk through the world like that.
