To have not noticed about the 5p carrier bag charge?

I feel it was sprung upon us! When was it officially agreed by government?

I was in Tesco today and saw the signs that from sometime next month it will be enforced.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with the charge and have heard about it being discussed for years, but I didn't know it had been made mandatory! The cashier looked at me pityingly when I queried it and said it has been all over This Morning the media for weeks. Have I been too distracted by Jeremy Corbyn's lovely visage to notice this?

Oh right. Ah well, I'll join you in the land of the pretentious then Grin

JuJuMun69 · 15/09/2015 22:36

I believe that exploitation is the norm and no one recognises it anymore. I believe that you dont to the point of bulling a person that thinks its wrong. Carry on.

twirlypoo · 15/09/2015 22:36

Sorry, last one I promise!!

I am assuming that the law will be the same as the one in Scotland and it is not just a charge for plastic bags, it is a charge for all bags. Even a small paper bag costs a minimum of 5p. The only exceptions are where you are buying loose food and for prescriptions.

The money does go to charity. The store i work in supports The Prince's Trust.

And please do not take your ire out on whoever is serving you at the till. It was not our decision to charge for bags, but do you know who gets fined if you are caught giving a bag away? Not the multinational company - the person who was on the till. And i believe the fine is about £2000. Have some pity for us. I've had some real dicks giving me huge amounts of abuse because the media misled people into believing that the bag charge was just for plastic bags. It is for all bags.

JuJuMun69 · 15/09/2015 22:38

I believe that ridicule is wrong. I have a point and being nasty about it is wrong. I hope that some of you will wake up with a bad taste in your mouths but maybe not. One will though Grin

SilverBirchWithout · 15/09/2015 22:39

Be careful with those sheep Fuzzy they can be damaging to the environment through over grazing. But if you also dress-up like Bo-Peep it would be a sight to see.

Pipbin · 15/09/2015 22:40

You are the one calling people ridiculous and pretentious.

JuJuMun69 · 15/09/2015 22:41

Being rude there silver birch. funny enough my neighbour has one of them in his garden, he has no regard for anyone elses. The seeds go everywhere, does he care, no not at all.. so selfish is at it does.

Sirzy · 15/09/2015 22:41

Nobody is being nasty. You are hardly articulating a convincing argument though when you don't even seem willing to listen to the basic facts about the scheme.

sazza76 · 15/09/2015 22:42

JuJu, you have called someone a liar and not apologised when proven wrong. You have called people sheep, you have called people pretentious and you have said that we dont live in the real world..... and you are saying that its others being nasty to you!

treaclesoda · 15/09/2015 22:43

Oh, and I was called a liar for saying that I got my groceries delivered without carrier bags. That wasn't exactly a nice polite way to engage in debate.

JuJuMun69 · 15/09/2015 22:45

Grin I havent been proven wrong at all Grin

sazza76 · 15/09/2015 22:46

Yes you were! You said treacle was a liar about her delivery driver not using bags. You are wrong, lots of us have had the same and if you ask delivery people they will confirm it. Or are we all lying to you?

Pipbin · 15/09/2015 22:47

I havent been proven wrong at all
Yes - you said that there was no such thing as bagless supermarket deliveries. Posters pointed out that there was. I think that you were proved wrong there.

JuJuMun69 · 15/09/2015 22:48

A debate? who said this was a debate? Im having my own opinion on a website. Grin

FuzzyWizard · 15/09/2015 22:49

Silver- Grin I'll keep my eyes peeled for bonnets next time I'm in accessorize.

treaclesoda · 15/09/2015 22:50

Even if you don't believe me, a quick google of Tesco home delivery will indeed confirm that you can opt for bagless delivery.

JuJuMun69 · 15/09/2015 22:54

JuJuMun69 · 15/09/2015 22:56

Pipbin · 15/09/2015 22:58
