To still wear a couple of maternity tops?

Just because I like them. They look like normal ones except for the side 'ruffle'.

YANBU, i wore maternity tops and trousers after if i liked them, they are expensive so might as well get the wear out of them!

ifgrandmahadawilly · 14/09/2015 16:27

I still wear maternity tops and my dd is 2 next month.

I'm not sure if that makes either of us less unreasonable but you have company!

Also, during pregnancy I swore I would never wear non-maternity trousers again. Elasticated waists are so comfy!

ShebaShimmyShake · 14/09/2015 16:29

Elasticated waists fall down! I'm having to live in skirts because I'm so scared my maternity jeans/trousers will end up around my ankles. And I have hefty hips...

HackerFucker22 · 14/09/2015 16:48

I still wear my maternity leggings and baby is 8 month.

My tops have been relegated to pj's though - they still make me look six months gone!! Baggy tops and maternity leggings are my staples I am finally starting to shift the lbs too

reallywittyname · 14/09/2015 16:55

Yanbu and you are not alone!

I put mine away after baby arrived then I got them out again because I realised I can wear what the hell I like, so what if the label says "maternity"?

onthematleavecountdown · 14/09/2015 16:56

My ds is 7mo and I still wear mine with pride. Tops, jeans, leggings, dresses and massive granny post cesarean pants Grin.

Ratarse · 14/09/2015 16:57

Great, I'll wear them with pride then. :D

Oh yes, I have a top designated 'the comfy t-shirt'. It's got a nice print on and simply looks like an oversized tee. Only I know it's a 3 year old maternity top a size too big.

MrsTedCrilly · 14/09/2015 17:16

Still in maternity leggings 16 months later! Weight is mostly off but they are just so comfy, and I love how high they come.. keep everything nicely tucked in Grin

Welshmaenad · 14/09/2015 17:30

I still wear some of my maternity tops and my youngest is 5.5. Grin

HaydeeofMonteCristo · 14/09/2015 17:33

I totally do. My DS is 18months.

Some things have been relegated to pyjama status if obviously maternity.

The stuff with just a bit of gathering I think is fine.

Alot of my maternity stuff was just bigger sized normal clothes, but I do still wear the nice things even though they are a couple of sizes too big now.

Bubblesinthesummer · 14/09/2015 17:35

I quite often wear them as them as they have room for my back heat pads etc

YANBU. My DD is almost 6 and I wore a pair of my old maternity jeans yesterday (elasticated waistband is great for Sunday roast days!)

If the clothes fit and look fine then I see no reason why not.

Yarboosucks · 14/09/2015 18:48

I still wear 2 of my maternity shirts??. my DS is 15 years old now! Who knew H&M clothes could last so long??

twoboystwogirls · 14/09/2015 18:58

I do this. I have lots of maternity t shirts and they do look normal and they are much nicer than my regular tops so I wear them all the time. I also wear maternity leggings with elasticated waists. I don't think anyone notices.

notquitehuman · 14/09/2015 21:01

Nah, I love the big baggy tunics and giant pants. I've even got some ultra huge jogging bottoms that are lovely to wear to bed when I'm bloaty and premenstrual.

nephrofox · 14/09/2015 21:08

In principle, YAMBU

However, if I saw someone wearing a top with the ruched side I know to be maternity wear, I would presume they were pregnant.

Fluffy24 · 14/09/2015 21:18

I've got some that I still wear (DS 8 mo) but they're just a little bit gathered at the sides and I find that the extra boob room and length makes them more flattering - but they tend to be the ones which are stretchy fairly tight material as the non stretchy ones just make me look pregnant. I even considered whether I would BU to buy a couple more.

sproketmx · 14/09/2015 23:59

Oh he'll no. My last one was a little over a year ago and I'm still in mat jeans. Normal ones make my section scar itch

Fatmomma99 · 15/09/2015 00:12

Oh God! Mine is 14 in November. I should stop wearing the bras, shouldn't I! And there is one particular skirt which is just still soooooo comfy!

hangs head

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 15/09/2015 02:20

The only "maternity" clothes I ever had were two pairs of denim dungarees, one with long legs and one with short.
All my other clothes were just stretchy/elasticated/baggy and I wore them all out afterward. Most of them came from Evans.
That said, I was am fat and basically converted fat to baby, so people often didn't even notice the difference Confused
Wear what you want!
