Hello please help! I really really hate where i work at present and have been trying to get out since May. A dream job came up and ive got it! Likely by starting November or December. However i get married very soon and H2B and me want a baby ASAP. The timing is rubbish but not getting any younger (im 29 hes 37) although not old at the same time! I really want this job and it is mandatory that i complete a 10 month long course within the 1st year ie the year i wanted to be pregnant! The course starts either in March or September. Ive worked out if im pregnant there will be no way to complete the course prior to mat leave so will have to do it when i come back. Firstly that does not look good and secondly its a difficult course and doing it with a baby would be near impossible. What do i do??

Hold of ttc for a little while. Given your age and the fact It's months not years you'll be pushing ttc back by I don't see much of an issue.

HackerFucker22 · 10/09/2015 15:30

Start ttc the month you know you can complete the course (realistically) prior to baby arriving. When I say realistically I mean if you were due to complete course in say November 2016 then ttc for a January 2017 baby.

I actually think this is quite a black and white dilemma....you either choose to have a baby or you choose the job.

However, what if you don't become pregnant as quickly as you thought and within that ten months, you still aren't pregnant? Surely it would be better to take the job and deal with everything after? They can't sack you once you are employed with them can they?

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 10/09/2015 15:31

Do the course.
There is no guarantee that you will conceive immediately.
After being with the company 6 months or so, you should get better maternity leave.
If you are pregnant for the last few months/weeks, would it be that much of a problem?

You are still young, I put off ttc for 6 months. Also means you enjoy the post marriage honeymoon period. I was very sick in pregnancy and would've hated that to be our first year of marriage

BathtimeFunkster · 10/09/2015 15:34

Take the job and put off TTC for a year or two.

You are only 29z

Sodder · 10/09/2015 15:36

Take the job and hold off ttc. It's a no brainer for me.

SparklySlippers · 10/09/2015 15:52

thanks i know this is the answer. Im just hoping they put me on the March course!

As others have said - get your career on track, this opportunity won't come along again any time soon.
Then when you are trained you can TTC.
Congrats on the job.

Take the job, wait to have a baby, and use less !
