To think this man only approached me because I was a lone female

BlondKadie · 07/09/2015 18:48

Was driving earlier and the car infront of me pulled over to the right to turn and I then slighty moved to the left to get around him. It was easily done to move around him.
A male cyclist who was behind me then started screaming "what are you doing stop"
Like he couldn't see from the start that the car was turning what did he think I was going to do stay and wait? It was a large road and wasn't a squeeze and the cyclist was behind me so I had right of way!
Anyway so he then bangs on the back left side of my car and I put my finger up to him.
Then there are traffic lights ahead, I watch him out of my window and he is coming up but it looks like he's trying to suss out if I'm with anyone
He then comes up to my window banging on my window asking me why I put my finger up at him and I did it again and told him to fuck off and that if I wasn't female he wouldn't of approached me
He then rode off swearing.

I'm not a feminist or anything so don't get me wrong but I feel this way a lot about male drivers. I notice when I drive my boyfriends tinted Audi nobody drives up my arse or try's to shout at me but in my little KA which known to be a girls car males are constantly trying to bully me with tailgating/flashing ect

Anyone else have this issue?

Whirl it's the Internet, news flash people cannot jump through screens neither do I condone men hitting women.
But the idiot who said
"Would you say it to me a 6'4 bloke in a landrover"
Like I was suppose to be scared.
Just proved my point about males picking on females

SanityClause · 07/09/2015 19:40

Would you have pulled out in front of a car, because "they had plenty of time to stop"?

I doubt it.

YABU, and doubly so for not being a feminist.

JeffreysMummyisCross · 07/09/2015 19:41

I bet her daddy is bigger than yours too, Wasonthelist. Be afraid Grin.

BlondKadie · 07/09/2015 19:43

Whothefuck
Fair point
And that's what I think in general though about certain people picking and chooses who they fuck with.
I get flashed, tailgated, sworn at all the time in my slow little KA
but if I drive my BF car or he drives it NEVER happens.
Even cars refuse to pull into gaps for me causing me to reverse.
When it's my BF it never happens

From what you say, you didn't cut up the cyclist, he tried to undertake. This is why so many cyclists end injured or worse when they do it to lorries. Cyclists do not have a different highway code which allows them to overtake on the inside. If you were on a dual carriageway and you swapped lanes you would have been at fault but just changing your driving position on a single lane road to avoid a turning vehicle you have right of way.

wasonthelist · 07/09/2015 19:45

Like I was suppose to be scared.

That wasn't the point at all - you have quoted selectively. My point was, would you have done what you did in front of a bloke driving a big(ish) car instead of a bloke on a bike. I am sorry if you misunderstood
on purpose

SoupDragon · 07/09/2015 19:45

Meh. I have brothers of my own.

elQuintoConyo · 07/09/2015 19:46

I have fuck all comment to make about the car vs cyclist bird-flipathon.

But MrsTerryPratchet I am well-jel re your Jason Statham lookylikey husband Envy I myself have a Liam Neeson Grin

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 07/09/2015 19:49

mum11970. Actually they do. "Undertaking" is perfectly legal for cyclists.

SoupDragon · 07/09/2015 19:49

Was there a cycle lane marked on the road?

BlondKadie · 07/09/2015 19:50

If the cyclist was a CAR and NOT a bike he would of stopped though that's the point!
Because cyclist have no insurance I feel they sometimes think they can roll around town

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 07/09/2015 19:50

Whether the OP had right of way or not we have no idea as we weren't there. It would depend at what point they changed position. If they changed position on the road in a manner which caused the cyclist to take evasive action ( and she says he had to brake) then she was very much in the wrong. But I'm not suprised she can't see that.

Whereas you are an equal opportunity dangerous driver and road rager?

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 07/09/2015 19:52

Mmm, they can roll around town. Grin

They have every right to roll around town.

I have a john cena alike and people rarely attempt to be rude to him whether he's on his bike or in the car. It's more a look down and hope he doesn't start something attitude I've found. Luckily he's quite placid generally. But I'll tell him to watch out for you and your bro's OP.Wink

Even if you weren't being u in the first place, its coming across like you are now.

Shutthatdoor · 07/09/2015 19:55

Why are you on mums net?
Key word is MUMS

It maybe called mumsnet, but it is actually a parenting site! Plus, shock horror, even people without children post!

BlondKadie · 07/09/2015 19:56

Well I have realised I am a feminist and im anti cyclist
Two things I didn't even think ha! Grin

Sounds like you moved into his path of travel. If you'd have pulled into the path a car was moving along then I imagine they would have beeped you because you caused them to stop.

If you are moving to the left and you check your mirrors before you make the move and you see a cyclist then you wait. Tiresome as that may be for you.

Funinthesun15 · 07/09/2015 19:57

Even if you weren't being u in the first place, its coming across like you are now.

Completely agree.

JeffreysMummyisCross · 07/09/2015 19:57

Jeffrey's every post you don't agree with is "made up" like mileend post was to even though the user is regular.

No, you've lost me. I've no idea who mileend is. One of your previous incarnations?

Wasonthelist
If you meant it like that you wouldn't of mentioned your height
Why did you tell me you are 6'4 like anyone can tell if you are sitting in a car?
You were trying (and failing) to sound threatening.

Bye felicia Biscuit

SanityClause · 07/09/2015 19:58

If you pulled out in front of any vehicle, causing them to have to stop, you were in the wrong, and driving dangerously.

HTH.
