BBC is homophobic for not allowing a same sex couple for strictly

I can't think of anyone that isn't homophobic from being offended by two guys dancing.

The BBC sounds very outdated by saying this is because its a "family show".

I think calling the BBC homophobic is a stretch. The BBC has been a great workplace for homosexual people at a time when it was extremely unacceptable and continues to be a leader in supporting diversity in the workplace. The fact is that strictly is a show where the dance couples are performing ballroom dance routines which have a male and female role. It has ZERO to do with their sexuality and I think it is more harmful than beneficial to blur the lines where sexuality comes into it when it shouldn't.

Just because a man and woman are dancing doesn't mean they are romantically involved. It is an act and they are performing. Just as I go to work and perform my role with a mix of men and women, there is zero sexuality involved and it is considered extremely unprofessional if this does happen (protocol is that more senior person asks for a transfer to another team). As it happens I work with a diverse group of people, a full spectrum from a married homosexual person to someone who had an arranged marriage. We all respect each other.

Pretty sure this will already have been mentioned, but I think a lot of it is to do with 'CJ's agent told us he was available for it' when it's actually a really good gig to get and I should think the BBC do the choosing rather than the other way about.

i think a same sex version of strictly is what i intended to write however it really didn't translate well did it Grin

i admit it probably wouldn't be my cup of tea but i don't watch strictly anyway so why im bothered by this news story i dont know!

Colin Jackson and Erin did the swapping the lead thing, didn't they?

ChristineDePisan · 09/09/2015 15:01

colin and Erin danced with those ridiculous dolls and lost him the title...

LovelyFriend · 09/09/2015 15:16

I still inwardly cringe at even the mention of that dance esp as Colin was otherwise pretty brilliant.

Wasn't that Erin's last series?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 09/09/2015 17:20

No, she was around for ages after that (that was series 3, she left after 10 I think). Never danced with a doll again though Grin
