AIBU to think this man deserves prison time?

I've been reading on other forums people saying "prison for keying a car?" and "as a single parent he shouldn't go to jail" but the way i see it is that its the amount of damage, the damage he did is no different from burning out someones 7k car, or knocking down someones 7k conservatory?

I agree Pico. I've had a quick search and it seems the average prisoner has around 40 convictions, only about 6% are imprinted for their first offence. I imagine that a combination of a high number of previous convictions combined with damage to the value of £7000 (I'd have thought that for sentencing the value is relevant not the item damaged) has got this man imprisoned.

If he wouldn't go to prison for keying a "normal" car then he shouldn't for keying a £100k car.
