to not want to get separate goodie bags for my ds1 party

It's my ds party on Saturday. I've done football party bags with sweets pushback cars and birthday cake in it. Maybe something else when i go shopping later. My mum said you can't give football bags to girls you'll have to get separate ones for them without the cars and find a replacement for the cars. But That's just more expense. They are two seven year olds but mostly nine year olds. Aibu? Would girls find it so bad?

Oh This again, off course it's fine to give the girls and boys the same things.

Tuiles · 03/09/2015 10:35

My daughter would have been gutted to have a different bag to the boys, especially one filled with twee sparkly crap.

jackstini · 03/09/2015 10:35

YANBU - no need to sterotype.

My 6 yo DS and 9 yo DD would both be happy with the above.

Hassled · 03/09/2015 10:35

No the girls will be fine - plenty like football and cars and if they don't, well it'll be tough luck.

You can't assume all the boys will like football and cars either, can you? You're never going to please everyone.

Gileswithachainsaw · 03/09/2015 10:36

It's fine. no need for separate bags

WorraLiberty · 03/09/2015 10:36

I can't believe you need to ask to be honest.

chocoholic05 · 03/09/2015 10:39

Exactly! I only have boys. The birthday boy likes football and cars the other one is not so bothered. My mum even said I ring round to ask then. No.

Did you get those penis operated toy cars? Because if not it's totally fine. Girls are even allowed to go to university and stay in work after marriage these days too!

Let your mum know the news Wink Grin

If you did get penis operated cars there are greater problems than your dinosaur mother...

MakeItACider · 03/09/2015 10:44

One of DS2's girl friends got a remote control car for her birthday from us - she adored it!

chocoholic05 · 03/09/2015 10:49

On the other hand, I'm probably over thinking it but if my boys got a girlie pink princess goodie bag they wouldn't be impressed!

As long as there's cake and sweets I seriously doubt any child will care!

yep this.

FoxesSitOnBoxes · 03/09/2015 11:07

No! Don't get different ones. And please challenge your sons if they use the word "girlie" in a derogatory way. Everyday sexism and all that

ISpidersmanYouMeanPirate · 03/09/2015 11:29

DS1 is having a mixed party (fewer girls than boys although I don't know exactly how many yet as not everyone has RSVPed) and the theme is most definitely Spiderman because DS likes it.

So a spiderman party bag with bits and pieces and (to help us identify them all in the park) a spiderman t-shirt that they'll wear during the party.
