AIBU?
Another parking one
ReRegRhonda · 01/09/2015 07:50
Me and my disabled mother recently went to the shops. I was also heavily pregnant at the time. We couldn't find a disabled space so we parked in a parent and child space and left her blue badge out. A lady with a child in the back of her car stopped and shouted at us 'where is your child!' Were we being unreasonable to park there? Should we have found a normal space or waited for a disabled space to come up?

Of course you weren't. There's nothing enforceable about parent and child spaces, and clearly both of you had greater need of the space. Supermarkets could solve this type of problem simply by putting parent and child spaces further away from the shop.

Supermarkets can fine whoever they want for parking in a space they have deemed being for parents and children if they feel they don't meet the criteria (including people with disabilities).
However the fines are unenforceable, and anyone who thinks that people with disabilities shouldn't be able to park in a parent and child space, is an arsehat.

A woman had a pop at me for parking in a P&T space using my Blue Badge last week. Interestingly she waited until DS1, who is in the army and built like a brick shit house, went to take the trolley back!
Reality I park in P&T spaces whenever I can't find a BB space. I've done it for years and will continue to do so. I don't care what you think about it tbh, imo a disabilty trumps having a child every time.

No, p&c spaces are not 'interchangeable' with BB ones, as in people with children should feel free to park in disabled spaces.
However, someone with a blue badge can park wherever the fuck is most convenient and helpful for them - bb space, p&c space, wherever. And anyone who takes issue with that can volunteer to have a leg amputated or break their spine and be a martyr about parking if they want to lead by example.
Disability trumps 'accompanied by offspring', in the mind of anyone who isn't a cunt.
