Parking: How long is it likely to take for police to get in touch with car owner?

About an hour ago, I made a report to the non-emergency number about a car that has used the pavement in my street as a parking space. Not straddled the pavement, as many do, but completely blocked it, forcing me and DD in the pram into the road, which almost caused an accident.

About 10 minutes ago, another has done the same thing but directly onto the pavement in front of my front door, which runs perpendicular to my home.

Do the police actually come out to these? And will they pick up on the new dick head driver?

There are free parking spaces for on the street and it's a small street, these people are just lazy and inconsiderate.

Yeah, we're fine. The other driver tried to have a pop at me for us being in the road but then realised why we were and apologised. Was a bit shaken at the time but calling the police was cathartic!

The car in front of my door is annoying rather than dangerous...I can get past it but the cheeky fuckers looked me in the eye while they were parking there. They're entirely on the pavement, using it as a drive way IYSWIM? The other one isn't annoying as such outside of it being dangerous.

I really hope the police do come out. Has there ever been a parking thread where the police attended and were prompt? I'm not fancying my chances: they've probably got more serious stuff to do on a bank holiday.

I'm surprised that the tyres are still inflated.

They don't bother here. If they have nothing to do, they come and give a ticket, but it usually takes hours and it's rare.

Did the police tell you whether they will ultimately remove the cars or the council? I think cars might need to be issued with a ticket before they can be removed. So a council warden/police officer needs to come out, then removals called. That could take a few hours.

With regard to the police contacting the owners, they normally only have the owners' addresses as supplied via the DVLA. If the owners aren't at home to answer the door bell there won't be much else the police will do to track them down for a parking offence.

They didn't say anything about actually removing the car as such but they did say that as it had almost caused an accident, they would be the ones to deal with it rather than the council. I just didn't think to ask exactly what 'deal with it' means in this instance though!
