To admit I'm middle aged...

Just watched a fascinating program on Edwardian farming, switched over to x factor and found myself reaching for the off button.

I'm destined for drinking coco and heading to bed at 9pm, whilst the young trendy things stay up and watch Through the keyhole. I'm officially middle aged, aren't I?Sad

Nope, you're just discerning! X Factor is shit.

CainInThePunting · 29/08/2015 20:50

What Homemade said.

Daffydil · 29/08/2015 20:55

I love those farm series. The only reason I want watching it (with my hot chocolate) was because I've seen it before....

Daffydil · 29/08/2015 20:55

Wasn't watching it

Chippednailvarnish · 29/08/2015 20:57

Good god woman how old are you? Anybody over 25 finds X Factor mind numbing!!

laffymeal · 29/08/2015 21:03

X factor is a steaming pile of rancid mince whatever your age.

CointreauVersial · 29/08/2015 21:03

I read a quote the other day - you know you're middle-aged when you make more noise getting into and out of an armchair than you do having sex. Grin Made me laugh.

X Factor is tripe, though.

cashewnutty · 29/08/2015 21:05

My 17 yo DD stopped watching the X Factor years ago. It is for tweenies only!

LeftMyRidingCropInTheMortuary · 29/08/2015 21:06

You know you're middle aged when:
the phone rings on a Saturday night and you hope it's NOT for you.

derxa · 29/08/2015 21:10

I'm watching Italian league football on silent and can't be arsed to change it after DS left the room. How sad is that?

CalmYourselfTubbs · 29/08/2015 21:57

supposed to be going out tonight to a bar across town to watch a friend play a gig.
think i'm gonna bail.
in fact, i know i'm gonna bail.
15 years ago, i'd have been out the door without a backward glance. with some narcotics in my pocket to liven things up.
think i'll watch a film online and turn in early.
rock n' roll.

BobbinThreadbare · 29/08/2015 22:08

I think I've been middle aged since I was about 18.....I have never seen X Factor, Big Brother, BGT or even Pop Idol. I like gigs where you can sit down, and the bands can play their own instruments. I like pubs, not clubs. I need a new O ring for my sewing machine.

Chippednailvarnish · 29/08/2015 22:08

I'm having a cuppa and some battenburg.

Tubbs I've gone off bars as I can't sit down and have a chat 'cause the music is too loud and there's never enough seats.

OP posts:
CalmYourselfTubbs · 29/08/2015 22:20

Same here Chipped.
the trek to the north side of town is bad enough but the bar is gonna be rammed, so no chance of a seat.
the music will definitely be loud and i'm deaf as a post as it is, from all the clubbing i did in my yoof.
hope friend won't be too pissed off with me.

Andrewofgg · 29/08/2015 22:21

Watching BB or any of those so-called talent shows s like pouring sugary goo over your teeth and then not brushing - only it's your mind you are rotting.

I like my music unamplified and yes, I like it sitting down.

Geraniumred · 29/08/2015 22:26

I'm having herb tea and catching up on bake off. I was born middle aged too. I have just got a new oven which I am really excited over and made my first order with wool overs today.
I also raised lavender plants from seed in my hall student accommodation when I was 20.....

PigletJohn · 29/08/2015 22:38

If you plan to die at 88, you are middle-aged at 44.

In the days when lots of people were dead at 60, they must have been m/a at 30.

NoMontagues · 29/08/2015 22:38

I live in a seaside town and there is an Abba tribute band playing an outdoor concert over the road.

I've been mentally composing my complaint letter to the council for nearly an hour now...

Chippednailvarnish · 29/08/2015 22:43

I'm not 44. I'm not even 40 Confused

I woke up this morning thinking about what garden centre I could visit...

OP posts:
CalmYourselfTubbs · 29/08/2015 22:45

Grin at abba tribute band.

NoMontagues · 29/08/2015 22:47

They're shite as well tubbs

Shite and loud

CalmYourselfTubbs · 29/08/2015 22:49

is this a one-off Abba thing or are they sat there every saturday night?
i'd commit hari-kari if i had to listen to that every week.

NoMontagues · 29/08/2015 22:57

It's a one-off or at least I fucking hope it is. It isn't even a bastard bank holiday in this country this weekend, so why the council have wheeled out the jollies is beyond me.

On out last bank holiday, they had a ^3 day festival* , the headline act of which was Sister Sledge

...It seems to have stopped now. They did Dancing Queen as the finale, the unoriginal bastards.

I'll soon calm down and go back to my non-sweary self.

NoMontagues · 29/08/2015 22:58

I will also regain my ability to do italics
