To be fed up with people commenting on my hair

I have horrible wispy, fine/thin curly/wavy hair and about 10 mins after I brush it, it looks like a busted sofa. I could brush it 100 times a day and it would still look messy. I'm just fucked off with my mum and family members commenting on it. My mother will ask me if I've brushed my hair this morning Angry or a more subtle, "have you brushed your hair"? For fucks sake I can't help it woman, you gave me these dodgy hair genes!

I'm not the type to spend ages on my hair, I've tried straightening it or blow drying it but as soon as I go outside in the heat/air/rain it will go horrible again Sad Shall I just shave it all off?!

Do you like it as it is?
If you do then tell them - yes -,this is my style fuck off.
Id you don't visit a hairdresser and get some advice on style and products to keep it under control.

321TeachUs · 27/08/2015 20:58

What do you do with it?

PacificDogwood · 27/08/2015 21:00

Maybe you are brushing too much?

I have wavy, frizzy hair and it behaves much better if I just leave it alone and don't wash too often. Mine is not fine, mind, so I might be all wrong.

Do you use any 'products' in it (gawd, I hate that word Hmm)? Anything to weigh it down a bit?

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes · 27/08/2015 21:00

You can just ignore them.

Practice your Hmm face.

FlowersAndShit · 27/08/2015 21:02

I don't put anything in it, I just let it dry naturally. I have it shorter now and it looks a bit better but still messy

MamaLazarou · 27/08/2015 21:04

Don't brush fine, curly hair!

Trills · 27/08/2015 21:06

Put something in it and don't brush it at all.

Trills · 27/08/2015 21:06

But yeah, that's rude commenting

PacificDogwood · 27/08/2015 21:08

Post in S&B - there'll be a font of wisdom available to you there.

Stop brushing.
Look at 'Curly Girl Method' on-line.
Put some gunk in (I like wax).

Tell rude commenters to mind their own beeswax.

YANBU, btw Smile

ruddynorah · 27/08/2015 21:11

Stop brushing it. You need a product to control the frizz. Cheap stuff works. Curly girl method.

DoJo · 27/08/2015 21:12

It shouldn't matter what you're doing with it or whether it looks mad - constantly commenting on it is rude! Tell them that their thoughts are noted, but until they have something new to say you would rather they didn't feel the need to repeat the same rude comments every time you see them.

RiverTam · 27/08/2015 21:12

Don't brush it
Get some product for it

Moln · 27/08/2015 21:19

Yes they are rude, being told once that you have brushed and it's just like that should suffice for them never to ask again.

But serious, don't brush. I never (well rarely) brush my hair. Last time was just before washing and due to have done a skydive it had got a little wind swept and knotty. Grin

Look up curly girl for certain.

They are still rude regardless, we're only suggestion these things because no one should feel their hair is 'horrible'

NannyOggsHedgehogs · 27/08/2015 21:19

"Woo spooky, you said the exact same thing yesterday, mum! Are you not used to me by now?"

HippyDippyRidingPretty · 27/08/2015 21:21

Anything curly should never see a brush! Just comb with fingers in the shower and apply a little product. Use a defuser (sp?) If drying.

FlowersAndShit · 27/08/2015 21:25

Thank you everyone Smile if i don't brush and just use products, won't it get all matted? My hair is terrible for tangling.

OP posts:
Trills · 27/08/2015 21:27

Matted between when and when?

Comb it through just after you wash it.

Put stuff in.

Scrunch.

Do not brush.

Next time you wet it, comb it.

HippyDippyRidingPretty · 27/08/2015 21:28

I have afro curly hair. I brush and style with my fingers in the shower. Crunch dry with a towel, apply product and blow dry with a defuser (again sp?)

Then style with grips.

Bulbasaur · 27/08/2015 21:30

Try black people shampoo. It helps with frizz and keeps hair moisturized without using wax. I know a bunch of people with curly hair that use it and it's been great for them.

PacificDogwood · 27/08/2015 21:33

You will have to experiment a bit Smile

No doubt fine wispy hair will require different handling from thicker (or afro) hair, but there will be a way to make you look less… erm, bouffant?

Only ever use a broad toothed comb on your hair, in the shower, with lots of conditioner on; this will detangle it. I also brush before I wash my hair (I wash it every 4-5 days or so).
Currently I am using and liking l'Oreal's Extraordinary Oil - costs a tenner and lasts me about 2 years.

bikeandrun · 27/08/2015 21:43

My hair is finally not frizzy( grr wish I leant about this years ago) after reading tips on s and b. Main things that help - no brushing no shampoo, only conditioner, don't rinse it out too much. Boots pink curl creme wrap in a micro towel, wake up the next morning with lovely curly, unfrizzy hair, hairdresser does it with a diffuser but that still looks a bit frizzy when I do it.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 27/08/2015 21:45

First rule of having curly hair - never ever ever brush it! It will make it look a total mess and potentially damage it.

Try plopping it
