Our house is up for sale. In our lounge we have a long white TV bench with an orchid on. The orchid only had 1 flower and a flower bud left on it.
On Saturday morning we had a viewing, done by the agents, so we vacated. On our return I went to turn the TV on and notice the orchid only had one flower bud on, and the opened flower had gone. I assumed it had fallen off so tried to find it to stop our toddler eating it. I couldn't find it anywhere so assumed it had come off another time and its already been thrown away (though I was sure it was attached to the plant when we left, but I assumed I was mistaken) andni forgot about it.

On Tuesday afternoon the same people wanted a second viewing so again we went out. As i picked up my keys from the tv bench i womdered whether to hide the sorry looking orchid as it was now just a stick with one bud, but as the toddler was whining at the door, i just left. On my return, the last flower bud was gone meaning I now have a stick in a pot!? I again looked for otnto stop it getting eaten and it was nowhere to be found. The TV bench s plain white, has nothing around it, and is on 6 inch legs on a wood floor so you think it would be obvious to find it if it was there.

I can't think of an explanation that isn't "weird house viewers destroying my plant" but that's too weird to be possible... Isnt it???

That is weird. Poor orchid. I'd ask them 'errr so, um, what did you do to my plant?'

wickedlazy · 27/08/2015 17:40

Yup someone has broken it off and taken it home..

orchidnap · 27/08/2015 17:42

Oh and after the second viewing of this and another property they were apparently trying to decide between, they've vanished and are ignoring all calls from the agent. So I'm feeling a bit fed upmof the whole process now!

Anything for a sale! Don't let a £5 plant puy you off a sale worth thousands!

MrsTedCrilly · 27/08/2015 17:51

That is very weird... All I can think of is they brought their young child with them and they did it? I can see that happening! Parents start looking round another room, kid sees flower and pulls it off, puts it in his pocket! An adult doing it would be very weird...

orchidnap · 27/08/2015 17:56

That's what Dh suggested but itnwas just a young couple on their own! I know their must be a normal sane explanation but I just can't think of one! Grin

Me neither.. Ask the agent if they witnessed the crime Grin

ImperialBlether · 27/08/2015 18:02

Did the viewers have a child with them?

jay55 · 27/08/2015 19:05

Maybe it was the agent.

JuanPotatoTwo · 27/08/2015 19:12

If you broke a bit off and planted it could you grow another one? Maybe they fancied an orchid plant of their own so whipped a bit off yours.

lougle · 27/08/2015 19:14

Twice? Confused

lougle · 27/08/2015 19:15

Perhaps it's some sort of selfie dare? Scour FB for someone with a huge grin, holding an orchid flower or two.

Never be surprised at anything people do when they view a house OP. Someone I know forgot to put their child's tablet away before they left the house for someone to view, it disappeared. The agent denied all knowledge of it so of course they never got a replacement. Of course it could have been the agent who took that.

When I got home after the people who bought my last house had their second viewing I noticed that one edge of the carpet near a cupboard door was all rough. I asked the agent about it and apparently they'd tried to pull back the fitted carpet in the living room to see what was underneath; agent seemed to think this was a perfectly acceptable thing to do in someone else's home Confused.
