to be utterly disgusted with the pictures on the front of some of today's papers?

I was in the supermarket earlier and saw the front of most of the newspapers. All of them had the TV news people who were shot in the US on the cover.
Some of them had staff pictures of them, the kind of thing that would be on their ID cards for example, but The Daily Mail and the Telegraph had pictures taken from the film that the gunman made showing the second that the poor woman was shot.
This is the last living moments of a person. No one needs to see that and it certainly shouldn't be plastered all over the front of papers for nothing other than titillation.

I know I shouldn't expect too much from the likes of the Mail but I still want to just bitch about it.

Sorry Arsenic, I need more coffee.

I agree the pictures are very distressing, I hate them and feel sick for that poor woman and her family. But tbh I am glad people have seen them and felt outraged about them because it is going on nearly every single day in the British press.

Yes, it is reassuring that lots of people feel similarly.

I turned over a pile of them in the supermarket queue as they were eye level for dd who, at 6 is quite capable of reading and understanding the headline but doesn't need to have the image of a woman about to be shot burned into her mind.

hebi this thread is about that particular story. Saying that people don't care about other pictures and stories and how that is sad really is pretty patronising. Of course there are other atrocities. It doesn't negate this one.

I don't buy the Daily Mail so don't see the pictures you referred to. I was commenting as I saw a series of newspapers in a newsagents as I was passing yesterday who nearly all had these photos on the front page.

hebi there was a thread expressing disgust at that particular story - people in that case too thought it was vile and wrong.

To ne honest, I was unaware of the race of the child in question (not that it would effect my view) as I refused to click the link, so reprehensible did I find the notion of it being published. That said I was also unsurprised. I have been on a personal Mail boycott for the past 12 ish months. I find their practices and editorial positions disturbing for many reasons, this is just a further example of why.

It is possible to object to more than one thing, without having an effect on your ability to find other things sickening.
