I was in the supermarket earlier and saw the front of most of the newspapers. All of them had the TV news people who were shot in the US on the cover.
Some of them had staff pictures of them, the kind of thing that would be on their ID cards for example, but The Daily Mail and the Telegraph had pictures taken from the film that the gunman made showing the second that the poor woman was shot.
This is the last living moments of a person. No one needs to see that and it certainly shouldn't be plastered all over the front of papers for nothing other than titillation.

I know I shouldn't expect too much from the likes of the Mail but I still want to just bitch about it.

Completely agree. I was also shocked at how many 'news' sites had clips of the actual footage embedded in their stories yesterday. Absolutely disgusting.

Apparently many papers are also suggesting their readers may like to watch the full video - available on their website. Horrific. Think such newspapers should be boycotted.

I agree,her poor family (and the rest of the world) have seen the fear in her face in her final moments and her knowledge of what was happening. They won't be able to tell themselves that she didn't see it coming and it was instant.
While I do agree that the press needs to be able to report on news, I do think that there needs to be more common sense involved by producers. There will be people who have recorded the murderer's video from the internet and watch it for their own twisted pleasure.

I agree, especially as the gunman uploaded his own footage of himself committing the murders onto social media - he was revelling in creating his own perspective and now the press are showing 'his view' literally. Same as with ISIS and other pathetic murderous scumbags, we shouldn't show their footage, their perspective or let them paint themselves as heroes.

YANBU. Truly sickening that we have come to this. Everything is up for grabs. Snuff videos mainstream now apparently. Makes me .

I agree, imagine if that was a family member or a friend Nothing is private now.. Well actually, I'm surprised Daily Mail don't yet show bits of bodies from plane crashes or bone fragments from the recent airshow disaster. But you can see pictures like this on other sites.. When that plane got shot down over the Ukraine, locals took pics of the bodies and put them on twitter.. Children included. Imagine being that parent coming across that, it's unthinkable! People deserve respect and privacy, they have lost their lives for gods sake. We don't need to see the details, our imaginations can fill in the blanks.

I never ever ever buy the Mail but I won't buy the Telegraph again, not that I ever did very often anyway.

Mrs I agree that it is shocking, but independent people putting pictures on Twitter, whilst despicable, is the action of an individual, not a newspaper who have made the editorial decision to put those pictures on their front page and to charge people.

You're right, it is different.. Awful but the actions of a few sickos. We don't expect or want newspapers to be sickos too and make a profit from it. They feel they have to publish more and more shocking things.. The things is I do check my news app a lot to keep up to date but find it so depressing.

I was horrified to accidentally stumble across a couple
of the front pages on the 'what's on the front covers' section of BBC news website.
It is sickening that they are allowed to sensationalise someone's last moments as if it is a Hollywood film and not someone's actual life. It seems that nowadays the more traumatic and tragic the better for some of the papers.

I feel hosting / promoting videos like this is so damaging: to the families of those killed and to society. I never watch any of these, crimes, Isis propoganda, accidents, I watch and read news and know these things happen but think watching them is ghoulish. Children I have taught have watched/been shown upsetting videos and I think it has affected them badly (including some children laughing at really horrific incidents rather than show fear ). It's no more than i d expect from some papers but it's still unacceptable. I will make a complaint.

I'm not even shocked anymore. If it's not a newspaper, it's fb or other social media. It's upsetting but that's how it is today, everything is available to see without censorship.

If you are talking about the picture of the pistol being pointed at the lady that isn't the exact moment she was shot, the gun isn't in frame when he fires.
