AIBU to feel like it's Christmas tomorrow because I'm moving into my first home! Eeeeeeeeeekkkk. Literally cannot sleep.

Anyone want to share experiences of when they moved into their first home? How did you feel? How was your first night sleeping in your own home?

How exciting.
My first flat needed gutted so my first night of owning it was spent stripping wallpaper and ripping up carpets! I didnt move in until 6months later and I was a bit scared, but God I loved that flat!
When I moved into our current house with DP (now DH) we were shattered on our first night after moving everything in and unpacking, we had a chippy tea while drinking champagne and fell asleep on the sofa Blush
Good luck in your new home Flowers Wine

Thanks myhearts. Ours doesn't need gutting luckily. Were decorating room by room as it's not to our taste but definitely livable.

Were all going to have a takeaway. OH and I come from big families so all siblings and parent are helping. So excited but so nervous too!

Helpers are a godsend! DH and I done all the lifting and carrying with some help from my dad and my mum and sis unpacked boxes, spent the next day rearranging cupboards but least everything was unboxed and tidied away on that first day.
Hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow for you

On our moving day my mum
and brother helped and we were in by teatime. We then went to ikea whilst we had the van and spent the evening assembling two tables and a TV unit. We were so knackered, we got into bed and DP Said 'listen..' I instantly froze as we had horrible chavvy noisy neighbours in the place we had just left. He then smiled and said 'utter silence!' Slept the best i have in years. Good luck tomorrow.

We didn't get our keys til 4pm in winter so was pitch black, got to the house and heating wasn't working but I was sleeping there no matter what! got our bed and baby's cot and set them up in sitting room with fire going and alarms set for every 2 hours to put more coal on! woke at 5am to a pipe leaking, was an interesting night but we are happily still here and that's just a funny story now!! good luck today!

I love that moving day excitement, I've only had 2 proper grown up house moves but also a few as a child, the best bit is waking up in it on the first full day! congratulations Wine
