It is my birthday today and the only people who have acknowledged it are DH and MIL.

DCs wont stop screeching and screaming and whining. I am supposed to be cooking dinner for PILs coming later, and baking my own cake (!!!!) but instead, I am sitting on here, drinking wine and being deafened by the silence of my phone and facebook.

Long story. Shitty story. But I am devastated about some stuff that has been going on in my so called family, and the fact that it is my birthday is just magnifying it all.

So cheers people, happy fucking birthday to me.

I spent too many birthdays like this OP. Realised that my DH's family were way more supportive and loving than my own had ever been, despite me pretending for years.

Just ditch them.

The cake is in the oven. DCs seem to have found a new kind of loud and screechy just for today, the joy. DH will be home in an hour and then I can sit down and relax and have more wine. Can't wait.

The birthday wishes from internet strangers have cheered me up no end.

I don't know how I came from my family. They are a totally different species right now. Webs of bitching and backstabbing and I am always the one that ends up taking the blame and being frozen out. I have been NC before, and I caved in, but I wasn't as strong then. I am strong now. I can do this, and I won't waver. If they were friends they would have been ditched long ago. My counsellor is speechless sometimes when I tell her things that have happened. I always knew it was dysfunctional, I always knew my mother is toxic, but seeing the sheer disbelief on a persons face who has no ties to them, that is eye opening for me.

I actually have a bottle of prosecco. Think I will open it later with PILs.

Get a cake from supermarket so you can have extra wine time. Iv never heard anyone cooking for family on their birthday.

Well dinner was lovely, if I do say so myself :o and I burnt the cake so we had shop bought, and PILs were lovely.

Don't think I have fully processed all the other events, but I will be seeing my counsellor in a few days so that will help.
