Gifting rotten fruit

Lighthearted, obviously.

Someone brought me a bag of windfall apples yesterday. And I mean half rotten, really bruised. Now I can possibly understand them wanting to try and salvage some of the least manky bits themselves, but to give them away?

Would I be unreasonable to put them straight into the compost bin? And refuse any gifts of rotting fruit in future?!

I second the make cider suggestion

Shallishanti · 16/08/2015 12:27

you could just chop off the bad bits and make jelly with the rest?

redshoeblueshoe · 16/08/2015 12:39

Make chutney and learn to say no

Notasinglefuckwasgiven · 16/08/2015 13:13

Apple jelly? How does one do this? I like apples

CigarsofthePharoahs · 16/08/2015 13:16

Seems a bit of a pointless gift.
'Here, have this bag of fruit that are too nasty for me to bother with!'
My suggestion? Get one of those big hug bottles of cider and get it out when manky fruit giver next comes to visit. Claim you made it from the crap fruit.

Make a board with head shape hole and invite gifter round for a game of splat

I get given lots of past its best fruit and veg that I wouldn't eat but is perfect for my guinea pigs !

bedraggledmumoftwo · 16/08/2015 17:03

Sadly I don't have any pigs to feed (my cat only eats Felix) and have been on slimming world forever and cooked fruit/jam/chutney is syns!

Have just picked two punnets of plums off the tree ( as opposed to the floor!) and was going to keep the wasp holey ones out and only give away the perfect ones. But maybe I have been doing it all wrong!
