To think teenage all night garden parties on a week night are selfish.

I know, I know , they're probably celebrating a levels. But last year's AS party was at a weekend, the year before that a level party (older sibling) was at a weekend, the gcse parties were at weekends.

This is next door neighbours btw.

The big tent is pitched, the beer is flowing, the music is thudding through my house from the stereo in the garden, the kids are pissed and running around screaming. We've had to close the windows and it's still noisy.

If it's the same as previous years it will go quiet about 5am.

We sleep at the back of our house so it's about 6ft from our bedroom window. Their parents sleep at the front so probably aren't as disturbed. Hell would freeze over before Id let dd act like this even at a weekend.

And yes I should probably be grateful these parties only happen a few times a year. Doesn't help when it's actually happening though.

I saw the tent and thought it would be tomorrow night. Told Dh I might go and sleep in the caravan in the storage yard! I still might yet tonight.

fortunately torrential rain is keeping any results parties indoors here! Unfortunately I think people regard the school holidays as one long weekend and forget that most people still have to be up for work the next day

An oasis and spaghetti celebration sounds far more my style!

YABU. Party on teenagers! They're A levelled up and it's Thursday so practically the weekend.

Just let them enjoy it. It's not like they have to go up school tomorrow (unless you're in Scotland).

Don't be such a spoil sport. Put in ear plugs if the noise is that bad. Weren't you ever young and wanted to party?

However I can sleep through a rock concert so there's not much that can keep me awake!

Our DSes our out tonight to celebrate DS2's A Level results. They are under very strict instructions to come in quietly and not to wake us up as DH has to get up for work at 5:20am.

Our neighbour has a brain tumour so they are very considerate and quiet when they walk past her house.

I couldn't give a toss if these things happen only a couple of times a year. Hell would freeze over before we'd allow ours kids to do it.

No toddlers sadly, teen dd will sleep till lunchtime.

See I try my hardest to be a considerate neighbour. When my dog goes in the garden I even wait by the back door for her so she doesn't bark and annoy people. This is early morning and evenings. During the day I'm less stringent but even then she only barks once.

Neighbours both sides will leave their dogs in the garden barking for ages.

I just don't get why people are like this.

Try ear plugs. We subject our poor neighbours to an annual party. Although the music goes off at 10.30. It is a special day.

And it's such shit music! Dunno how to describe it but it's like an electronic hum which just changes note every now and then and keeps repeating itself. No singing, no guitars, no drums. Wtf sort of music is it?

When our neighbours moved in, the lady came round and apologised for her dogs barking. They were unsettled because the removal men were in. I was gobsmacked, we were used to neighbours whose dogs barked all bloody day and night.

I would let them have it, they have their whole miserable degrees ahead of them. They will be up til 5am soon enough...with a red bull desperately trying to finish some bull shit essay they should have started months ago. party on

As the parent of a teen who got her as level results today I'm going to say YABU. These kids have a hard time, lots of pressure, very high grades needed etc. One party isn't unreasonable. HOWEVER they need to turn the music down at midnight and generally make a bit of an effort to be quieter after that.

Is it a Results Day party? If so, let them party, OP. Such events are only a couple of times in a lifetime.
