To feel sick (literally) when I hear the phrase 'meal deal'?

Not for any other reason than there are too many 'ul' sounds together? Anyone else get this? Is it a thing?

You should get out more.

MirandaWest · 10/08/2015 19:53

I think you are, in the nicest possible way, a little odd

TheoriginalLEM · 10/08/2015 19:53

not with that phrase but the word pucker used to curl my toes.

honeysucklejasmine · 10/08/2015 19:53

I have the same thing with certain sounds, e.g. people eating with mouths open. Not with words though.

SchwarzwalderKirschtorte · 10/08/2015 19:55

How are you on "moist gusset" OP?

That's two words people generally cringe at Grin

EygptianSnow · 10/08/2015 19:56

lol no it's a bit cheesy though

AuntyMag10 · 10/08/2015 20:05

No you are just weird.

MaximiseProductivity · 10/08/2015 20:19

Isn't the repeated ul sound the point?

Sorry OP, there are all sorts of things I can get revolted by that others apparently don't but I can't see this one.

Queenbean · 10/08/2015 20:20

I get this! You're not alone!

I HATE the word meal. So much. "Ooh lets go for a nice meal". Bleugh.

Meal deal is horrific. Too much horrible sound for me to deal with.

Notso · 10/08/2015 20:27

You're saying it wrong. It's not me-ul de-ul, it's meel deel.

It just makes me think of slightly naff food accompanied with "your choice of chips, jacket or mash, garden peas and half a tomato"

wowfudge · 10/08/2015 20:29

And there was I thinking the OP had an issue with a sarnie, bag of crisps and a drink at lunchtime.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 10/08/2015 20:31

Do you really like marmite with jam?

CaptainHolt · 10/08/2015 20:34

I hate the word 'meal', but I don't mind 'deal' on its own Confused

'Did you have a nice meal?' = gross

'Did you get a good deal?' = fine

I think it might put me in mind of mealworms, or great bins of animal feed.

Joolsy · 10/08/2015 20:40

YABU. I'm attracted to meal deals!!

Marmiteandjamislush · 10/08/2015 20:41

Schwarz those words are awful too! Glad I'm not the only one!

It's a thing! Sensory? A bit synaesthesic perhaps? I don't know the name. Misphonia? Is it the same?

iklboo · 10/08/2015 20:43

How are you with Deal Or No Deal?

I don't say meal or deal with an 'ul' sound though. Maybe it's an accent / dialect matter?

The80sweregreat · 10/08/2015 20:44

Hate having to hunt around for the stickered items to go with the sandwich, not everything is part of the deal.
< missing the point completely>

OsloGin · 10/08/2015 20:46

I had a boyfriend years ago who would add meal to every food description. "I had a pasta meal" ."Would you like a pizza meal
?". Oddness which was a sign of further oddness to come ...

I hate "meal". I remember this really lame guy, a friend of an ex, who swooped in after we broke up and tried to woo me with the words "Let's go to the pub after work. I'll treat you to a meal". I cringe now just remembering it. I hate the word meal, I hate the phrase "treating someone to something". It just sounds sticky, smarmy and really common at the same time. Yuck, yuck, yuck!!!

MaidOfStars · 10/08/2015 20:57

Ugh, going for a 'meal', on a deal or otherwise.

'Mealy' things are dry and course. Ugh again.

Poofus · 10/08/2015 21:07

No problem with meal deal or moist gusset. Agree that pucker is vile though.

bertsdinner · 10/08/2015 21:08

Don't like the phrase "meal deal" either. I dislike the word "meal".

steppedonlego · 10/08/2015 21:12

I never realised that I hate the word pucker before this thread.
