AIBU to not put my trolley away?

AIBU to not put my trolley away?

In my local, large, Tesco they employee people to do this. They generally have at least one person a day on this in the busy hours. I know this, I visit daily, have knowledge etc. This is fact.

It is a low wage job I expect, but it keeps those who will or can do it for what ever reasons in a job with a wage.

So AIBU to never put my trolley back thinking I'm helping keep them in work.

NB. I never leave it a car park space, just on the path.

I give up. I'm far from condensing or anything.

I'm not going to ask for a delete because I stand by what I said.

It was meant to be light hearted.

I have a lovely trolley collector who has worked there for years. If I put my trolley back he wouldn't be able to do the job he does.

We all put them nicely away in safe places, just a little away from the shelters which are sparse. He thanks everyone. He's lovely.

I have?? He's not your personal trolley collector! Grin although maybe he really is due to the fact you leave them wherever you please!

If they wanted you to leave them on the path they wouldn't have the trolley bays in the car park for you to return them to.
Trolley collectors are paid to collect the trolleys from the bays. That's why the job exists.

YABU and lazy. I don't know why you asked the question though if you're certain you're doing the world a favour Hmm

FruSirkaOla · 10/08/2015 20:03

"I'm far from condensing or anything."

???????? Grin

CheeseandPickledOnion · 10/08/2015 20:07

FFS. Really?

There is. He is. We have. We're a bit of a community around here.

This topic should not be called 'Am I Being Unreasonable' as I don't think I've ever read a post from someone who genuinely believes they are out of order. Mainly it's people who know they've been a bit of a twat and are looking for reassurance that there are other people out there who would be as much of a twat as them so they don't have to face the reality that they are, in fact, a twat.

Also OP, the trolley collector man may smile at you and say thank you in a lovely polite manner, but I can guarantee he is stabbing you repeatedly with a fork in his mind Smile

CheeseandPickledOnion · 10/08/2015 20:11

I'll take the fork.

I work in a supermarket and the job title is 'porter' where I work

The main jobs of a porter are:
Collecting trolleys dumped around the car park
Bringing in the lines of trolleys from the shelters
Dealing with all of the carrier bags on the checkouts/self checkout/ various service points- this is almost nonstop in a busy place
Taking all of the security tags and clothing hangers from the checkouts and putting them back where they belong
Tidying outdoor displays like charcoal and barbecues ect
Helping anyone who needs heavier items into their trolleys trampolines ect
Helping people get the heavier items into their cars

It's a really busy job, I'm sure there are loads more I have missed, to answer your question, yes they would still be employed.

SmugairleRoin · 10/08/2015 20:15

Yes, YABU. And lazy.

That's really all I have to say to you, because you don't seem to accept the MN jury aren't hailing you as the reincarnation of Mother Theresa.

SometimesItRains · 10/08/2015 20:16

Are you for real OP? You really think you are doing him a service by leaving your trolley on the path instead of in the trolley bay? How deluded are you? He is nice because he is probably aware of the importance of being nice and friendly in a customer facing job, not because he likes your lazy behaviour.

Idontseeanytimelords · 10/08/2015 20:18

So basically when the 'trolley collector' is pushing a dozen or so trolleys back from the trolley bays (how do they do that by the way?) he's supposed to be grateful that one dozy mare has left her trolley somewhere that he can stop his
Trollies, add it to his already long train and get it going again?
Right... YABU.

CheeseandPickledOnion · 10/08/2015 20:19

Thanks Saly. And I do appreciate that.

The guy I'm talking about only does trolleys. He is not able to do the other roles apart from bags.

msgrinch · 10/08/2015 20:19

He has to be polite to you, trust me he thinks you're a lazy stuck up twat, who should put the trolley away like normal anc stop looking down on him and feeling like a martyr. He doesn't need you to have a job there, you're not helping him you're actually making his life harder. well done you! Yay for the lazy princess who can't be arsed to walk to the trolley section anc masks it as "I'm helping".

MrsWembley · 10/08/2015 20:21

Ditto what everyone has said - YABVVVVFU!!Angry

I have on countless occasions had to move a trolley that is close to hitting something/someone! Even in Waitrose!!!Shock

BuggerLumpsAnnoyed · 10/08/2015 20:22

The job of the trolley collector primarily is to move the trolleys from the little stations in the car park to the one outside the shop. They also end up having to move the trolleys that lazy, entitled sods leave around the car park. They however, would still be employed if everyone was considerate enough to put the trolley in a designated section as they would still need to be rotated to the front of the shop.

CheeseandPickledOnion · 10/08/2015 20:27

So it seems I'm an unreasonable, pretentious, stuck up, uncaring bitch.

Nowt more than I'd expect from AIBU, I suppose.

I'll put my trolley back in it's place...

I just remarked on what a trolley thread this is, MrsW.

CheeseandPickledOnion · 10/08/2015 20:29

Usual called me a troll. I'm not.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 10/08/2015 20:30

How come he can only do trolleys and bags?

CheeseandPickledOnion · 10/08/2015 20:30

And again? Why? Wanna post a biscuit too?

OP posts:
CheeseandPickledOnion · 10/08/2015 20:31

For various health reasons Sparkling.

OP posts:
usualsuspect333 · 10/08/2015 20:32

It is a trolley thread though.

ThisIsClemFandango · 10/08/2015 20:33

By the time you've chosen the perfect spot to leave your trolley where it won't roll, be in anyone's way or bang into something, you might as well have just put it in the fecking bay that has been designed for it.

You do sound condescending and patronising btw.

GemmaTeller · 10/08/2015 20:34

NB. I never leave it a car park space, just on the path.

oh, well, thats all right then Hmm
