AIBU to not put my trolley away?

AIBU to not put my trolley away?

In my local, large, Tesco they employee people to do this. They generally have at least one person a day on this in the busy hours. I know this, I visit daily, have knowledge etc. This is fact.

It is a low wage job I expect, but it keeps those who will or can do it for what ever reasons in a job with a wage.

So AIBU to never put my trolley back thinking I'm helping keep them in work.

NB. I never leave it a car park space, just on the path.

Oh yes you're keeping them in a job Hmm

If they didn't have to do that they'd be able to get on with one of the other many jobs!
Sure it doesn't matter though as it's a low paid job.

Stop trying to justify it.
If this was chat you'd get the same responses.

Iloveroxette · 10/08/2015 19:34

cant believe the anger people feel over this!

When I worked in a cafe I didn't like people clearing their tables as I wanted to be kept busy. Perhaps the trolley collectors are the same

CheeseandPickledOnion · 10/08/2015 19:34

Ok. I probably didn't word this right.

No I don not leave obstructions for older people. I'd be the first person to step up and help them out.

Secondly, while I no longer work for Tesco. I can assure you that 'trolley collector' is an actual position.

It was prompted by my interaction today again with the lovely man at my local who does this job in a happy and friendly manner every single day.

I was touched the other day when it was baking and I saw the manager come out and ensure he had enough water and was taking enough breaks.

It's his job. He does it with passion and love.

Bollocks to you. I'm not being unreasonable. I help him stay in work and I think he's great.

You lazy wotsit!

Bring back the £1 coin release trolleys. Everywhere. Then "lovely" people like yourself will have to follow the expected norms of behaviour and return the fuckers to the trolley parks where they are not likely to blow/ be pushed into parked vehicles and will not block a pathway.

Icimoi · 10/08/2015 19:35

How can a trolley left on a path not impede?

Other issues apart, you could cause serious injuries to someone with a visual handicap.

usualsuspect333 · 10/08/2015 19:36

The coffee cups on the tables are hardly likely to roll into someones car.

SecretNutellaFix · 10/08/2015 19:36

He'll still have a job- returning the trolleys from the trolley parks and not having to chase them around a goddam car park!

scarletforya · 10/08/2015 19:37

Don't you have to put coins in the trolley there? (wherever you are)

Trollies here (Ireland) take €2 or €1, you don't get the coin back unless you return it to the correct place.

FruSirkaOla · 10/08/2015 19:37

Iloveroxette, nobody's going to be injured or have their car (or whatever) damaged by someone leaving a cup & saucer on a table - are they?

"If I didn't do that, would there be a job for those people doing that? And don't compare it to if I didn't litter would we need rubbish collectors, that's ridiculous." Don't be so patronising OP.

CheeseandPickledOnion · 10/08/2015 19:37

I asked if IWBU and decided I wasn't!

PeppaWellington · 10/08/2015 19:37

You know where they get the money from, to pay the people who collect the trolleys? The add the cost onto the price of your shopping. And mine.

Stop being such a lazy article and return your trolley. Really pisses me off when I get to the door of the supermarket and there aren't any trolleys left because people like you leave them strewn about the carpark, so either I have to go on a walk to find one, or the trolley herders have to round them up.

PurpleSwift · 10/08/2015 19:38

Op they would have a job regardless. Stop justifying your laziness with such a lame excuse

usualsuspect333 · 10/08/2015 19:38

He would still have a job you daft bat, who do you think takes the trolleys from the trolley shelters to the trolley park in front of the shop?

ArendelleQueen · 10/08/2015 19:38

OP: AIBU?
MN: Yes
OP: No I'm not

OMC1 · 10/08/2015 19:41

OP, your last comment just makes you sound condescending!

molyholy · 10/08/2015 19:42

Anyone who call themselves a 'lovely person', usually holds themselves in a lot higher regard than others. Who says that about themselves? Confused

YABU

It's not keeping them in a job, it's just making their job more difficult and unneccesarily tedious, having to herd them from all over and not just the trolley shelters (plus what everyone else said about obstacles etc)

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 10/08/2015 19:43

I'm not sure how putting it on the path instead of in the trolley park keeps him in a job op. Perhaps you could explain that?

As far as I can see it benefits you by not having to walk a few extra steps (you lazy mare) but doesn't benefit anyone who may want to use the child seat because it's got all wet in the rain or the person who has their way obstructed on the path. The person whose car gets dinged when it blows off is going to be pretty bloody cross and out of pocket.

But hey, at least now you can rock some sort of lady bountiful/friend of the people attitude because you're like totally doing the trolley guy a favour Hmm

Purplepixiedust · 10/08/2015 19:45

The poor trolley collector would have more time to make a good job of collecting trolleys from the trolley parks if he didn't have to collect them from the paths too. You are being lazy and making his job harder ????

misbegotten · 10/08/2015 19:46

Loving your work OP, great thread has made me literally lol.

FenellaFellorick · 10/08/2015 19:47

What would happen if everyone left their trolleys on the path?
I bet it would be really difficult to get past.
You can do it because lots of people don't
if everyone was like you, they would be a massive hazard. And really affect people particularly with mobility problems. Or prams. Etc. It makes other people's day that little bit more inconvenient. And doesn't make a blind bit of difference to one person's job.
The guy has a job if he collects them from the trolley bays.

And you do not and cannot know that your trolley is never a problem to anyone unless you stay and watch it until it is collected.
But fine. You have decided that nobody here has a good point and that's up to you. You can't be forced to see it from other people's pov.
Tbh, if you could do that, you'd probably be more considerate with your trolley

But I sort of admire your straightforward bollocks to you I'm not unreasonable no matter what.

Andrewofgg · 10/08/2015 19:48

In my local large Tesco you have to put a pound in the trolley and put it back to get it out - there are sheds all over the car park for it - so you bloody well do it. I had no idea there were Tescos where that was not the case. They take a Euro coin too, so perhaps the board of Tesco knows something we don't.

AThousandTears · 10/08/2015 19:50

Who goes to a supermarket everyday, sometimes more!?

Misses point of thread

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 10/08/2015 19:51

Yes, because you being a lazy, entitled cow creates jobs. That person is employed to collect your one trolley. Don't be so damn lazy - return your trolley.

My mind boggles at some of the posts we've had recently.
