To think that photos of children with food all over their faces are NOT cute?

Yet another child on FB with dried food stuck all over it's face. It's actually only parents think their kids look cute like this and quite frankly the novelty wears off pretty quickly.

Please stop doing it makes me feel sick.

I hated food mess on Dd's face or anywhere at all ever! but I have to say, one day she was eating her yogurt and somehow got it plastered all over her face, it was all round her mouth and a blob on the end of her nose. Thickly spread as well.
I dunno, it made me smile cos she looked so happy and she was trying to lick it.
I photographed her and then cleaned it off.

If the food is dried on and then photographed then that is grim.

I also didn't post the picture online

CoffeeAndOranges · 09/08/2015 20:19

Ha ha it's a Cookie Monster birthday cake = she just smears it all over her face. Makes me laugh as sometimes with cake, you just wanna dive in like that!

Ladymoods · 09/08/2015 20:20

I totally agree, op. I really dislike it, it's not cute at all.

UngratefulMoo · 09/08/2015 20:33

Oh god, Mumsnet hates me tonight. Every other AIBU thread is about people hating something that I do. And I was starting to feel so at home here. Why all the hate, people?

msgrinch · 09/08/2015 20:45

yanbu it's grim. Why people want to show off their grubby children is beyond me.

maxxytoe · 09/08/2015 20:47

I've got a picture of my son with profiteroles all over his face and hair
I think it's cute

Holden10 · 09/08/2015 21:04

I would have completely agreed with you until I had ds 10 weeks ago and now I find his little milky face after a feed irresistible. It'll probably all change back once solids are on the scene though Grin

chickenfuckingpox · 09/08/2015 21:45

if its dried on i can understand it i have a couple of pics of my son one with mushy peas everywhere there is a backstory to the pic and i find it cute same as the pic of him with half a biscuit in his mouth he was sleepy and determined to eat this biscuit he didnt make it Grin

but i cleaned them after i took the pic (except when he was asleep i just removed the biscuit!)

Ladymoods · 09/08/2015 21:45

Pictures of my kids covered in food - cute.
Pictures of other people's kids covered in food - revolting.
Therefore I assume that other people feel the same way about pictures of my kids covered in food as I do about theirs, so I would never post them on Facebook.

Jengnr · 09/08/2015 21:46

Of course it's cute. Some of you need to take the stick out.

maybebabybee · 09/08/2015 21:48

Jengnr right back atcha Grin

Justneedtovent01 · 09/08/2015 22:06

No, YANBU. It's awful, why on earth would anyone find it cute?? :shudders:

EmpressKnowsWhereHerTowelIs · 10/08/2015 08:27

Hiding the thread in the interests of not throwing up. FWIW I do see that people have every right to post the pics if they think they're cute and it's up to me to avoid them.

NormaStits · 10/08/2015 08:36

I'm in the 'cute on my kid but not on anyone else's' camp. I've always thought the photos like that on fb were grim. Now I have a little one, I have photos of her with various first foods round her face. They're cute to me, but the only person I share them with is my mum who lives miles away and likes to get photos every few days.

Would never inflict them on my fb friends.

I see someone has made references to potty training photos - thankfully have never come across these but I dread to think what they are! Just kids on the potty or... the products of the endeavour?

TheyreMadITellYouMaaaad · 10/08/2015 09:11

YABU

Kids are cute - yours, mine, or anyone else's. Mucky or clean.

Facebook OTOH is simply irritating. But, rather than post about Fakebook in AIBU, I simply avoid it unless I have to use it, and adjust my settings to minimise its irritations.

pictish · 10/08/2015 09:17

YaDnbu - it's not cute, it's rather stomach turning. I didn't find it cute even with my own babies and was never compelled to take a photo of them smeared in food gubbins with it all in their hair and whatnot. I certainly don't find OPC covered in ick appealing.

maybebabybee · 10/08/2015 09:21

There is no adjustment filter to say 'please hide pictures of children covered in sludge'. Sadly.

Kids are not all cute, either.

LavenderLeigh · 10/08/2015 09:21

It's ghastly.
Half the time the stuff smeared round their faces looks like vomit, even in those awful "cake smash" ones

FurryDogMother · 10/08/2015 09:22

Makes me feel slightly sick, too. It's not because it's a child, it's the whole smeared food thing, I'd be equally revolted by an adult covered in food. Just yuk.

pictish · 10/08/2015 09:25

Yes...if there was a 'edit out all photos of babies and toddlers covered in food' button, I would use it.
They pop up unexpectedly and make my stomach do a wee churn of its own accord.

LavenderLeigh · 10/08/2015 09:29

Not all kids are cute.
Indeed.
And even the cutest child with food on its face can look like the victim of a dirty protest.

Wow you are a sensitive bunch. So many surprising obstacles to navigate in this world.. I never thought posting a pic of my baby covered in chocolate would bother anyone!

The80sweregreat · 10/08/2015 09:39

I hate it too, I also dislike seeing food thrown around - why do people think this is funny too? its messy and a waste of good food. ( those caught on camera type programmes show this a lot - mostly bride and grooms chucking stuff about, yuk.. and , yes, I do turn it off if it is on!)

maybebabybee · 10/08/2015 09:41

Would you post a picture of your baby covered in poo, because to all intents and purposes that looks exactly the same.
