Miffed that somebody has taken my mnn?

I know first world problems and all that but it doesn't feel right that there is another Regina out there for all but one letter. Then to be lied to about how long they have had it (thank you AS).

Totally prepared for lots of YABU get over it sad lass type posts. It's just that I like my nn and now I will have to change it.

I did AS on the other Regina to check their 2010 claim. My search only showed posts from this month even when I checked further back. The reason I did this is because I was more than willing to change my nn if it is shown I have nicked/stolen/copied somebody ele's.

Somebody said AS is Brooke's so that maybe why I couldn't see earlier posts.

I take on board IABU and will promptly change my nn to avoid confusion or upset. Many thanks to all that took the time to reply Smile

You do need to say sorry op, if it has now transpired you're the nn thief. You were expecting something when starting this thread, so now you have been proven unreasonable I think you have a place to rectify it.

When I joined MN I chose a screen name that I had used for many years in a number of places. It was the phonetic spelling of a normal word so was available. After about a year there was a thread like this about me from a poster with a nickname that was the original word iyswim? She was quite a well known poster, I have always been a lurker and the thread got quite big. It was nasty tbh. Loads of people saying awful it was that I had deliberately stolen her nn but had changed it etc -the two words looked totally different. It was quite upsetting. I wasn't trying to impersonate anyone, I didn't search names before I chose, I just used the one I always do. I did change it but was miffed about it. This was more than 7 years ago btw!

Honestly, it's just what happens on the internet. Sorry you have to change it but I think it's a bit off starting these threads.

Meh I was marcelinethevampirequeen fir a while and someone came along and had a very similar name a few months later. I just changed to avoid confusion. No dramas it just made things easier .

Tbh you've been here 3 months get over it.

Rather daft to pm them and ask them to change. I'd refuse on principle. Regina is an stolen name from friends anyway so hardly unique.

OP, I saw your comments on the other thread and thought it was ridiculous getting annoyed at another poster for "stealing your nickname" and now you've actually made a thread to target that person? Shock

For future reference, Chat deletes threads after 90 days, other topics on here delete after 30 days, so just because you can't find any old posts doesn't mean they never existed.

You DMed me at about 6:30pm spouting the same line after posting this thread. I replied to your DM 30 seconds after reading it, which wasn't until recently as I have a life outside of MN was busy.

And it turns out you feel entitled after having the sodding name for 3 months.
