DP has cleaned the toilet -and-is-walking-round-like-the-all-conquering-hero-. He's put some special cleaning block in the cistern which has turned the toilet water bright blue. Considering MN thinks a toilet brush is a faux pa I wondered what opinions are on blue water; should I claim we are embracing the summer festival chemical toilet look?

It's when the water goes bright blue after you've been for a wee that you need to worry.

Sizzlesthedog · 09/08/2015 08:44

I use the bloo brand ones, but the clear water ones that create a pleasing float and lemon smell when I flush

Sizzlesthedog · 09/08/2015 08:45

FOAM! Not float.

Oh dear autocorrect fail. No one wants a floater!

Emochild · 09/08/2015 08:54

maxxy I can reassure you that too many blue coloured alcoholic drinks do not turn your wee blue

it goes green instead, so i'm told

Mermaidhair · 09/08/2015 08:56

Its very normal in Aus to have beautiful blue toilet water. And there is a whole section in the grocery aisle dedicated to it. I feel weird if my water isn't blue.

bettyberry · 09/08/2015 09:04

Its the summer holidays. I have purple Grin toilet blocks because my Ds does not flush the loo and often a sprays urine everywhere. I have to clean it every time I use it. Ds does prefer blue because when he pees the water changes to green Hmm

It stops the whole bathroom stinking of pee. Roll on the day I get into the new house and have a bathroom all of my own!

As for seeing the colour of your pee. Yes, I check that too. I'm terrible for not drinking enough liquids and will up my water intake if I notice its a bit dark. Can't do that so much atm and its a small price to pay with so so many more people peeing all day than usual.

DisconcertedAndRetired · 09/08/2015 09:06

My plumber also told me not to use them, damages something, can't remember what, possibly plastic fittings inside cistern.

ohtheholidays · 09/08/2015 09:29

Pink loo water here and not a toilet brush in sight (yuck)

ScoutRifle · 09/08/2015 09:30

We have blue water too, sometimes pink. The dogs & cats don't drink it as they have their water bowls filled constantly.

lemoncordial · 09/08/2015 10:09

I was told by a plumber not to use one of those things in plastic cages that colours the water as all too often then come loose and block the toilet.

gotthemoononastick · 09/08/2015 10:14

So disappointed! thought the thread would be about a new blue toilet water(like eau de cologne,or evening in paris) not lavatories and brushes!(old gimmer emo.)

GoooRooo · 09/08/2015 10:18

At least with pink toilet water you won't have a little panic when you eat beetroot and pee pink and don't realise why, like I do every single time I eat it.

DurhamDurham · 09/08/2015 10:21

I didn't think people bought those blue things anymore as they are known to block up the toilet. And it's not even a nice calming shade of blue......it's electric blue Grin

morall · 09/08/2015 10:27

Fine in an old fashioned toilet. In a modern toilet with a plunger type flush, it rots the fittings.

TheWintersmith · 09/08/2015 10:29

Why would I want to see the colour of my wee?

I am prone to cystitis, the very first sign of an attack is a slight chance to colur and smell of my wee. A blue floral smelling loo and I miss both of those signs and end up with a much worse attack for not catching it early.

Also I worry the blue is not good for tHe environment

TheWintersmith · 09/08/2015 10:30

change

LeftMyRidingCropInTheMortuary · 09/08/2015 10:32

Arf @ Maxi and the blue WKD story!

Blue toilet water - naff; (like knitted toilet roll covers)
Bog brushes - keep only for guests' use (don't really expect them to get the rubber gloves on if they do a skiddy).

Hope that helps.
