Aibu to ignore the mini pill guidance?

Dropping this in here for traffic as I've already posted elsewhere but...

As the title says really. I'm on the mini-pill and my GP has just swapped me from Noriday back to Micronor; reading the info leaflet I shouldn't swap until I finish this cycle; but would there be any real harm in starting on the Micronor now?

Always follow instructions on medications. They aren't there to inconvenience you, they are there for a reason. Carry on with what you're on and give your GP a call on Monday and check if you really can't wait for some reason.

I would start taking the new one and then if you were really worried than take extra precautions for 2 days as if you were starting them from scratch

What do you mean, cycle? Do you just mean the end of the 28 day strip?

I would use condoms for the first 7 days of the new pills just to be safe.

My rabidly childfree friend did that. Changed pill brands. Didn't follow the guidance. Now she has a child and posts lots of "#so blessed, #myangel, #lifeiscomplete" pics of her, so I guess she's happy about it, but she wasn't for the most of the unwanted pregnancy.

So yeah. Don't. The balance of hormones are different from brand to brand.

mini pills only need to be taken for 2 days for them to start working so you could swap to the other one and take extra precautions for the first 2 days

Noriday has been horrendous for me; I may as well have shares in Tampax (sorry, TMI!) and I was hoping to drop it like a stone as soon as possible; rather than wait for the inevitable arrival of the next "flood." Grim.

There is no need to wait for the next menstruation. Additional contraceptive precautions are not required.'

But I really advise that you contact a pharmacist (there are 24 hour pharmacies or some will be open tomorrow) to get actual professional advice because as proven by the wrong information above, you can't tell how much people on the internet know.

Aha! My new leaflet doesn't say that! But the old one from a box that I've clearly been hoarding for 3+ years does! Pharmacy at Asda tomorrow me thinks!

The information posted by ashmts has been proven incorrect - it used to be printed but there was a rash of pregnancies reported and it didn't stand up to testing. It is no longer advisable, so won't appear in new boxes.

I wouldn't risk it unless pregnancy wouldn't be that much of a big deal.

Do you have a link to that AdNauseum? That info was updated in April this year, would have thought some alerts would have come out if no longer accurate.

If you haven't had piv for 7 days then you could swap as long as you use condoms for the first 7 days of the new pack.

with mini pills it is 2 days of pill taking not 7
