To put DS in front of him on a moped on holiday! Please tell me I'm not mad and just because your in holiday mode you shouldn't do something so unsafe! He's clearly crazy, yes?

My old boss (female) said her husband did this every year when they went to Thailand. The thought terrifies me.

YANBU.

TheWitchwithNoName · 03/08/2015 20:10

Obviously this won't be happening!

Presumably DS is small? If so, yup, clearly crazy

Binit · 03/08/2015 20:11

Loony.

TheWitchwithNoName · 03/08/2015 20:12

DS is 6, he would be terrified and I actually can't see him wanting to!

Hassled · 03/08/2015 20:13

Unless DS is 15+, then he's nuts. Or is your DH Italian? Italians are scarily good at moped riding with multiple passengers and pets.

mineofuselessinformation · 03/08/2015 20:14

I've seen small passengers in the uk on the back of motorbikes. While it's entirely the rider's decision, it always me feel shaky and ill at the thought of such a young life so exposed to danger.

TheWitchwithNoName · 03/08/2015 20:15

I've told him you all think he is bat shit crazy, I mean he wouldn't dream of doing it in the UK!

BertieBotts · 03/08/2015 20:15

God, NO! Never in a million years. Be the unreasonable boring mum! :)

TheWitchwithNoName · 03/08/2015 20:17

I'm sure he's rethinking, I can hear those cogs moving...

OP posts:
TheWitchwithNoName · 03/08/2015 20:18

I am totally the boring Mum, it's like I have two DS sometimes!

OP posts:
SunshineAndShadows · 03/08/2015 20:20

If he wouldn't do it in the UK why does he think the risks would be less in a country with poorly trained drivers, less motor vehicle maintenance and poorer standards of healthcare?

TheHouseofMirth · 03/08/2015 20:20

I'd never do it but it seems incredibly common in Italy!

TheGonnagle · 03/08/2015 20:21

Entire families with 7 chickens and a large sack of rice travel on one moped in Thailand!
Needs must in their case, but your dh is being ridiculous!

Zame · 03/08/2015 20:25

Hope that works, there is no way I'd feel safe doing this!

Caillou · 03/08/2015 20:31

When I travelled to pakistan I saw all sort of things on moped, from baby sleeping (about 6 months old) on the petrol tank, to about 6/7 people piled up on it, to flatscreen TV,
but my favourite of all I'm that madness was a goat (alive)

Now I would never let my children ride a moped in these condition in UK or anywhere else

TiredButFine · 03/08/2015 20:45

My uncle did this until he and his son fell off in a ditch (they were luckily unharmed apart from bruises and scratches)
