To think the Chinese Teachers that taught in a English Comprehensive in Hampshire need to concentrate on their own countries problems.

This experiment taken by BBC 2 ' Are our children tough enough' proves how far removed Chinese teaching methods are from , creating independent creative thinkers.

The Chinese teachers actually buy in to their 'state driven' dogmatic culture, that breeds total obedience to the state of china. They are also victims because they are unable to accept , that independent thinking is the key to a happy life.

China has abject poverty for 99% of the population, yet they decry a system that 'no matter that it is being altered ' still attempts to ensure no one starves on the street.

There is also another question to be asked about the PISA results , why do they only show schools from Shanghai ?. We could respond by only quoting results from Private or Grammar schools, because their results have been 'doctored'.

The quote we only have one type of syllabus in China 'survive or die' is typical of a state controlled workforce. This also shows they have no compassion for anyone who does not fit the norm though either academic intelligence or through Autism etc. The comment about not understanding the child who ran out of the class about 'One Direction' proves they have no understanding about teenage problems, whoever trivial.

The English education system needs to take no advice from the Chinese education system, despite what the baying mob think on the Daily Mail website think.

can you give an example of how they have demonstrated a wider empire building approach? I have a one word response to this - AFRICA. Case closed.

PetrovaFossil1 · 06/08/2015 11:39

Moops - what in my post do you disagree with?

PetrovaFossil1 · 06/08/2015 11:45

As I said above, their approach has been to secure trade access and infrastructure. What makes you think it isn't?

Petro, don't waste your time it is impossible to have an objective reasoned debate with people who are ill informed and blinkered not to mention ignorant and who keep churning out the same nonsense. People like you and I who have first hand experience of living and working in China / HK and have Chinese relatives and friends will clearly have a clearer realistic view of what it is like to live and work in China.

Some people are of the view that Chinese people áre primitive and live in abject poverty.Of course there is poverty in China as there is any city, but there is also great wealth.

I made a decision not to post any further on this thread because of the nonsense posted by certain people but felt I had to let you know you will be banging your head against a brick wall with certain people because you can't reason with stupid...

Moopsboopsmum · 06/08/2015 12:45

Cheerlead for them all you want ladies! People in China have no human rights. Some may have Lambos and Chanel purses but one wrong move by Daddy or hubby and it's all gone and as someone said up thread, if they are lucky, they will get a bullet. Not to mention the turmoil in the markets over the last few weeks. But what do I know? I am stupid and ignorant.

PetrovaFossil1 · 06/08/2015 12:46

Misbegotten you're probably right!
The level of uninformed xenophobia on this thread has surprised me though.

sanfairyanne · 06/08/2015 12:57

yeah, stupid amnesty international, and hey they only torture the ones who step out of line, right, so really its their own fault, if you think about it
so long as most/some/a favoured few are okay, human rights abuses are fine, arent they?

PetrovaFossil1 · 06/08/2015 13:03

San, I completely agree with you on the human rights point. But that wasn't what I was debating!

sunshield · 06/08/2015 13:16

I wonder why the Chinese Government can just build an Airport like magic ?

Could it have something to do with Cheap labour, no planning laws or zero interest in environmental issues concerned with any new airport or expansion.

I wonder what the difference is between a British Compulsory purchase order of land and a Chinese one is ? Perhaps a British one has to be made with a current viable value of land or with relocation of those effected. The Chinese one is just get a " Bulldozer" and start , regardless of whether people are still on the land.

If growth in an economy is only achieved by outrages such as these practices, well I think I would rather live in a country (warts and all) that has a slow or stagnant economy such as ours.

chippednailvarnish · 06/08/2015 13:26

You appear to have a complete inability to separate the Chinese Government from people who live in China.

sunshield · 06/08/2015 13:35

No the Chinese people just do what authority tells them to, out of fear that questioning or disobeying would leave them destitute punished or ostracized by society for doing so. They practice 'self -preservation' as everybody would do placed in the same situation. There is no fault attached to Chinese people, however we should not be trying to emulate China or its methods used in education or anything else.

PetrovaFossil1 · 06/08/2015 13:48

Sunshield I suggest you do your research on compulsory land appropriation in China before making claims about it.

And perhaps talk to a number of Chinese people before making claims about them.

chippednailvarnish · 06/08/2015 14:54

Op you clearly know this from your extensive travels in China...

misbegotten · 06/08/2015 17:50

Sunshine should clearly change her name and to Moops

yawn

misbegotten · 06/08/2015 17:51

actually sunshield is right, she blots out the light...

dotdotdotmustdash · 06/08/2015 18:22

My Dd16 just returned last week from a school trip to China, including spending a day at a partner school in a large city (and meeting Nicola Sturgeon). She was amazed by the school and it's facilities, including a 'time-out' padded room with a boxing dummy in it and lots of stuff to throw about, a psychology room with sandboxes and lots of creative toys and an Airfix model making room. She had a fabulous time.

Moopsboopsmum · 07/08/2015 02:26

Yawn away Petrova I hope supporting human rights abusers makes you feel good. I love the Chinese people that is why I will never stop highlighting how oppressed they are.

ShanghaiDiva · 07/08/2015 03:40

So many China experts on here that have never set foot in the country!
China is changing rapidly and there is more concern for the environmental impact of decisions like building a new airport. My husband runs a factory here (which compilies with western environmental standards) and visits from epa is much more frequent.
I live in a second tier city and know plenty of people with ordinary jobs, good standard of living who are happy with the Chinese regime. I know others who do criticise the govt.
The treatment of the Tibetans and the Uighurs is very different. I have been to Tibet and there are strict controls. PLA everywhere in Lhasa and Tibetans are not allowed to have pictures of the Dali Lama or even mention his name. I have also been to xinjiang in the west of China - which is largely populated by Uighurs - and although there appears to be freedom of religion, all positions of authoriy ( police, airport security) are held by Han Chinese.
For the Chinese life is very different depending on your ethnicity and the situation is much more complex than posters on here appreciate.

areyoutheregoditsmemargaret

The BBC was referring to the teacher who has been over here teaching Chinese, when they made that statement.

That is not who I was talking about...
